What an incredible day at the 2024 Health Care Engineering Systems Symposium focused on Transformation through Teamwork. We heard some amazing clinical stories and reviewed some amazing research posters.

Today’s gathering at the Jump Trading Simulation and Education Center brought the 11th Annual Jump ARCHES Symposium to life! OSF HealthCare and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign shared a day full of insightful research presentations, each dedicated to driving innovation and transforming patient care. This collaboration serves as a strong reminder that our work is ultimately about putting patients at the center of every breakthrough. What’s inspiring: my talented OSF HealthCare colleagues, Dr. Sarah Zallek, MD FAASM FANA FAAN DipABLM and Dr. Lisa Barker, MD MHPE DipABLM , who are sharing their expertise at the 2024 American College of Lifestyle Medicine in Orlando. Dr. Zallek, a dedicated sleep neurologist, and CMO Osf St Joseph Medical Center Bloomington and Dr. Barker, a leader in simulation education Jump Trading Simulation and Education Center a master facilitator for physician compassion, and managing medical director, are addressing the crucial topic, “Sleep for the Lifestyle Medicine Professional.” Their work highlights the role of restorative sleep in our well-being and performance, especially for professionals in high-demand fields- especially for healthcare innovators OSF Innovation Proud to celebrate their leadership and commitment to advancing health! The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria EquIMED Equity Innovation Medicine Scholarly Concentration Program is a competitive and unique experience for the City of Peoria, Illinois based medical students of University of Illinois Chicago. These students dedicate a portion of their medical school time for four full years to innovate and build solutions to overcome health disparities and improve health inequities and #SDOH. No matter their future journey, these superlative students will have practiced and honed skills in healthcare delivery and medical practice innovation which are invaluable to all physicians. Their third year global rotation takes the students to international destinations to prototype solutions. In their fourth year, University of Illinois System Illinois Innovation Network partners will support the execution of their prototypes. With Distillery Labs and Bradley University as partners to OSF Innovation their ideas are brought to fruition. Seen here, EquIMED Equity Innovation Medicine students leverage the world class Jump Trading Simulation and Education Center to practice in a simulated case presentation. Asst. Professor of University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, Gregory Podolej, an emergency physician at OSF HealthCare OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and Professor Jon Fisher covered the debriefing on the pathophysiology diagnosis and treatment of the simulated patient’s condition. The team at OSF Innovation and our partner in the Innovation Academic Incubator, University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria Dr. Adam Cross, a medical informaticist and pediatric hospital medicine attending physician at OSF CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF ILLINOIS and Dr. Karan Rai have begun trials of a novel #augmentedreality tool to evaluate #concussion with Illinois State University. Dr. Karan Rai leads the Sports Medicine Team evaluating this tech at Illinois State University.
