Most educational materials are written for a 10th-grade reading level or higher. This wouldn’t be a problem, except that most adults in the U.S. can’t read past an 8th-grade reading level. At Jumo Health, we aim to change that by creating easy-to-understand and medically accurate educational materials.? So, if you have a question about a medical term but aren’t sure what it means, comment below, and we’ll send you an easy-to-understand answer! #HealthLiteracyMonth #healthcare #clinicaltrials #patientadvocacy

Personal stories are powerful, especially for those going through a health journey like breast cancer. This week, as part of our ongoing campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re sharing Jennifer Johnson’s story and how staying active during her diagnosis and treatment helped to keep her feeling like herself. The Jumo Health team had a fantastic time attending the Innovation Network Gathering in West Chester, PA, last week! A huge thank you to Denise N. Bronner, Ph.D. for inviting us to this incredible event. The gathering brought together stakeholders from across the clinical trial industry in an intimate setting (capped at 150 attendees!) to collaborate on solving some of the sector's biggest challenges. We broke into small groups focused on specific problems. Rebecca Schelkun, MPH joined the “FRRIICCCTION: Reducing Trial Burden” group, facilitated by Rosalie Filling, which explored ways to minimize the burden on sites, patients, and study teams from design through close-out. Meanwhile, Kevin Kelly’s group took on a challenge to solve a clinical trial problem in just 48 hours, facilitated by Shawn Blackburn. They focused on clinical trial participants and their caregivers who often struggle with understanding complex medical information, adhering to rigorous protocols, and maintaining engagement throughout the trial process compounded by the need for cultural sensitivity. Principally, we surmised that any solution developed to tackle these challenges should ensure a more inclusive, effective, and participant-centered approach to clinical trials. They?won the Edison Award!!! ???? We were inspired by thought-provoking presentations from Denise N. Bronner, Ph.D., Britt Gottschalk MBA, MIO, Lisa Moneymaker, Lindsey Wahlstrom-Edwards, and Laura Hilty. It was an amazing experience, and we can’t wait to attend next year! In the mean time, Jumo Health is excited to continue supporting the industry in providing actionable, relatable education & engagement for clinical trials! #ClinicalTrials #Innovation #PatientEngagement #JumoHealth #Pharma #ClinicalResearch #InnovationNetworkGathering #Partnerships

Unfortunately, 88% of adults aren’t health literate, and most educational materials they receive are written at a 10th-grade reading level or higher. Yet, the National Institute of Health (NIH) states that medical educational materials “should not exceed a 6th-grade reading level.” At Jumo Health, we pride ourselves on creating age-appropriate educational materials for clinical trials that are easy to understand, culturally sensitive, and representative of the populations they’re trying to help. So, with this month being Health Literacy Month, we decided to create a new social media series to help make medical jargon easier to understand. Follow along as we make the complex simple. #HealthLiteracyMonth #healthcare #clinicaltrials
