It's been a wild, full and energizing week -- December 2024 seems to have been carrying that theme quite perfectly from the start. And this December, the Alliance for Building Better Medicine and our APM #TechHub are deep at our continued work of building a robust end-to-end workforce and talent system together. With the support of our partners at America Achieves and the exceptional facilitation of their advisors, Andrew Trueblood and Joanna Mikulski, Brian Mathis, Sean Terrell, Elizabeth Creamer and I have been envisioning this convening for several months. Yesterday, along with a community of incredible, engaged and brilliant leaders, we came together to continue the good, meaningful, shared work of building a culture of learning in our community that creates access to #goodjobs for all. We were honored to hear from Commissioner Nicole Overley of Virginia Works on the design of workforce ecosystems that can enable every Virginian to thrive, and from our partner, Matthew Evans, CEO of Julius Education on strategies to utilize AI-enabled labor market intelligence to build career pathways and increase access to good jobs. It is through the application of these two concepts and other best practices that we have the ability to weave together something truly exceptional here in Virginia. As we move closer to the end of 2024, I'm certainly feeling the energy and inspiration of the African proverb, "If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together." HUGE gratitude to all those who are supporting our collective work in all the ways.

Through a strategic partnership with Rising Stars, Julius has guided students in building the skills and confidence they need to excel in sustainable construction careers. Each participant begins with an in-depth onboarding assessment, which helps to uncover their unique talents and interests—setting the stage for an inspiring journey of self-discovery. With Julius’ Green Buildings Career Map, students explore pathways within green construction, blending technical knowledge with the strategic insights they’ll need for long-term success. Each student emerges from the program with a personalized career pathway plan, empowered to align their strengths and aspirations with a meaningful career. What an incredible experience we had at last week’s CAEL Conference! We’re thrilled to partner with NREL on this project in developing skill taxonomies for approximately 250 offshore wind jobs. This project plays a crucial role in aligning these roles with the Standardized Occupational Classification (SOC) system, paving the way for a more defined and skilled offshore wind workforce. Offshore Wind Energy Occupational Maps: We Need Your Feedback! NREL, in partnership with Julius, is developing Offshore Wind Energy Occupational Maps to align job titles with the Standardized Occupational Classification (SOC) system. These maps aim to provide detailed job descriptions, education levels, certifications, and required skills for various roles in the offshore wind industry. Your input is vital to ensuring these resources meet the needs of the wind industry. Before publishing the final version, we are opening the #windenergy occupational maps for input until Oct. 31, 2024. We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the Capital Region Green Buildings Career Map, a powerful new tool designed to connect job seekers in the Washington, DC region with the growing local opportunities in the green building sector. As the developers of this regional career map, we collaborated closely with the?Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE)?and the?Building Innovation Hub?to ensure that this resource meets the needs of local jobseekers, educators, career advisors, employers, and workforce professionals. The map not only highlights the types of jobs available but also highlights local training opportunities, helping to bridge the gap between job seekers and the training they need.
