Last week, key leadership from JSL attended the Ventura Defense Industry Forum (VDIF) 2025 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds. The Ventura Defense Industry Forum is a strategic collaboration between the government and “the greatest minds behind the weapons and defense industry.” Besides catching up with industry partners, JSL attended presentations by representatives from NAVFAC EXWC, NSWC PHD, and NAWCWD to better understand the needs of the fleet and inform JSL’s strategy for continued support. JSL Technologies, Inc Receives Contractor Excellence Award and Other State and Regional Recognitions On March 29th, JSL Technologies was presented the Contractor Excellence Award by the Central Coast Minority Enterprise Resource Affiliates (CCMERA) at their sold-out 2025 Business & Leadership Awards Gala. The event recognized JSL’s remarkable achievements and reflected on its “vital work, exceptional accomplishments, incredible potential and resilience within our communities.” JSL’s CEO and President, Joe Black, accepted the award on the company’s behalf. During his acceptance speech, he spoke about how the company was founded in 2008 and the challenges of running a service-disabled veteran-owned small business. The event, at Zachari Dunes on Mandalay Beach in Oxnard, CA., was hosted by CCMERA a non-profit that supports consultants, entrepreneurs and small businesses on the Central Coast of California. As well as Mr. Black and his wife Jackalyn, the company’s Director of Business Administration, JSL was represented by Vice Presidents Patrick Montford and his wife Sherri and Chris Lewis and his wife Sharmineh. In addition to the Contractor Excellence Award from CCMERA, JSL also received: · A Contractor Excellence Award from the County of Ventura’s Board of Supervisors for “exceptional volunteerism, advocacy, and leadership in our community. Your commitment to public service and the empowerment of marginalized voices is an inspiration to us all and makes Ventura County stronger.” · A Certificate of Recognition from the State Senate of California in recognition of JSL’s “unwavering commitment, dedication, and outstanding contributions, and leadership in the community. Congratulations on this achievement and upon being recognized by the Central Coast Minority Enterprise Resource as the Contractor Excellence Award.” · A Certificate of Congressional Recognition from the US House of Representatives for JSL’s “outstanding leadership and immeasurable contributions to the success of small businesses and micro-businesses in Black, African American, and other communities of color across the region.” · A Certificate of Commendation from the City of Oxnard to JSL to “recognize and celebrate the achievements of minority entrepreneurs, community leaders, and organizations that champion economic development and inclusivity.” · A Certificate of Recognition from The Port of Hueneme for JSL’s “contributions to government contracting, specializing in engineering, logistics, and program management. As a certified Small Disadvantaged Business and Veteran-Owned Small Business, it has secured significant contracts, consistently providing exceptional services to its partners.” · A Certificate of Recognition from the California Legislature Assembly in “appreciation of your creative brilliance and exceptional commitment to community and economic growth.”
