    The holidays are stressful and so is being in charge of communications and outreach for a public agency. As we all prepare to activate our OOO messages, we wanted to provide you with some inspiration for how to enjoy the holidays this year. From PIO to PIO, we know you need a little R&R. ?? Assuming that natural disasters and EOCs mind their manners, take this chance to unplug from your computer and phone. It will still be there when you get back, we promise. ?? Crisp mornings and shorter days are made for early morning walks. Get out there, stretch your legs and breathe in the fall air. A cure-all for the do-all. ?? Read something for you (not for work), and you might just be amazed at how you can take inspiration from other authors writing style, diction and sentence structures when you're back in the office.     We love to see government agencies taking a fresh, creative approach to educating the public on important topics. As we approach the holiday season, you may be aware that education about properly disposing of fats, oils and grease (FOG) is key to preventing damage to our pipes. Eastern Municipal Water District takes a fun approach to educating customers about FOG using their mascots Savvy and Patrick.     We're in a thankful mood, and our gratitude list includes some newcomers and some oldies but goodies. Any you'd like to add? ? The OG of PIO tools, the AP Style Guide will always be near and dear to us. When "web site" updated to "website," we may have lost a little sleep, but as our guiding star for punctuation, spelling and consistency, we continue to follow your lead. ?? If you don't follow it already, @designerhumor on Instagram is a feed of pure gold. Their posts are only funny because they're true. ?? We are more than a little obsessed with ClickUp, our project management tool that lives up to its tagline, "one app to replace them all." ???? Spellcheck and grammar check tools that save us from making any of these faces: ?? ?? ?? ?? And last, but certainly not least, we are thankful for our wonderful clients who trust us, and by extension, we are grateful for their residents, customers and ratepayers who show up at meetings, answer surveys and believe in the power of good communication. ??

    That's a wrap on the Creek project ?? We are so proud of the City of San Marcos, CA construction crews and the project team for all of the hard work that has gone into this project. This marks a big milestone in the City's history, but also in JPW's too! We have been there every step of the way, including for all of the delays related to: ?? A worldwide pandemic ?? Protecting an endangered bird species ?? Historic rainfall Our team celebrated this project's completion by helping host the ribbon cutting ceremony. It was a wonderful day to reflect on the importance of this project for the community and take a sneak peak at the wonderful park trail, which will be opening to the public soon. #SanMarcos #RibbonCutting #SanMarcosCreek #OurNeighborhood #OurCreek #OurCreekEra

    Congratulations to the City of Glendora on receiving a prestigious 3CMA Savvy Award for their city rebrand. ?? Glendora's new brand is centered on a custom, hand-illustrated wordmark that was thoughtfully crafted by our Sr. Multimedia Designer Molly Schellenger to honor Glendora's charming legacy and inspired future. The new color palette includes various warm hues to reflect the city's welcoming ways. The dominant color is dark green, which for those who've known Glendora for a while, is a nod to the claymation classic Gumby that was created there. There are other little hidden gems in there too that we could share, but hey, a gal like Glendora has got to have her secrets. A special thank you to the Glendora team for giving us the opportunity to creatively tell your city's story and ensure it lives on for generations to come. ?     Congratulations to the City of San Marcos, CA for completing their largest capital improvement project to date! The Creek project has been decades in the making, over three decades to be more precise, and it is so exciting to see this hard work pay off. We are proud of our partners at San Marcos for the countless hours they put in to make this dream a reality for their community. Special thanks to Isaac Etchamendy for leading our team on this long journey. We have been so fortunate to work on this project and feel honored to be a part of such a historic moment for the city. The Creek project consisted of the following improvements: ?? Building a 1.2 mile loop trail ?? Building two new bridges on Via Vera Cruz and Bent Avenue ?? Restoring over 1.5 miles of Creek habitat ?? Expanding Discovery Street from two to four lanes ??     Is a strategic plan just a trick of the trade or a treat for all who use one? Here at JPW, we find that having a strategic communication plan helps prepare your team for any future potential tricks ?? .
