We have some very big news to share:?ARF IS JOYBOUND! That's right... we have a new name! After months of planning and preparations, we are thrilled to share this news with our supporters, partners, and our broader community. This new name perfectly expresses the happiness and loving bonds we support between people and pets. It's a name that reflects how we've evolved over the past three decades because of our amazing community of adopters, volunteers, donors, and supporters like you! Our commitment to nurturing the human-animal bond extends far beyond rescue and adoption; our programs and services support people and pets through a lifetime partnership. Our new name – Joybound People & Pets – celebrates this long-standing commitment to bring greater health and happiness to dogs, cats, their human families, and the community as a whole. While our name and look have changed, this commitment remains the same and stronger than ever. Thank you for joining us on this journey! ???? https://lnkd.in/gr7n4q6z

The first step our service dog candidates take is spending 15 weeks with a foster trainer. These incredible volunteers teach them basic canine manners and prepare them to begin advanced training with their eventual handlers. Plus, foster trainer volunteering is a great way to work towards a career as a professional dog trainer — Joybound will even cover the costs of your CPDT-KA test once you pass! For Veterans re-adjusting to civilian life, there's nothing quite as powerful as the human-animal bond. While any animal can provide much-needed companionship, Joybound's Shelter to Service psychiatric service dogs are trained to perform specific tasks that address symptoms of post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, agoraphobia, and beyond. https://lnkd.in/gfppYqkS
