Make sure to read Hunter Bacot (he/him/his)'s review of "The Black Tax." In his book, The Black Tax, author Andrew Kahrl chronicles with care and precision the racist practices by powerful political and civic elites who oppressed and victimized Black Americans through land/lien sales (land taking) that are supported by an institutional and legal apparatus premeditated by accomplices in legislative and city halls across America. Kahrl's meticulous depictions demonstrate how these laws and institutional settings work to suppress the accumulation of wealth in the Black community specifically, but by situation, those who are disenfranchised or disadvantaged in America. Unbelievably and most egregious, these same practices continue today. https://lnkd.in/eVePxJzv
