Hello there! We hope your week is off to a good start! In case you are interested in what affects organizational advocacy for polarizing issues, we have an interesting #JMCQ study for you. Ejae Lee & Sung-Un Yang found that #authenticity plays an important role. It impacts the quality of an organization’s relationship w/ individuals, which leads to increased support. https://lnkd.in/di_mdbiR Daniela Dimitrova Gregory Perreault

Sharing a week later than it would be cool to share, but was great to chat with Deutschlandfunk about US presidential endorsements earlier in the month. Shared a study (with great collaborators Volha Kananovich and Ella Hackett!) in Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly that basically found that presidential endorsements are (1) perceived as ineffectual by journalists and (2) cause a lot of extra work for political journalists who have to explain that, no, they are not in charge of the endorsements https://lnkd.in/eGtU-EKP

Thank you for publishing with us! We are especially glad that this article focuses on a country/ region that historically has not been systematically examined in mass communication research.
Findings from my latest publication, with Jesse Abdenour: Independent news outlets in Rwanda outperform government-aligned outlets on several variables measuring quality news. The data come from the global Journalistic Role Performance Project, and the article was published in Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly. Check it out! https://lnkd.in/eMuPHgi8

Good morning everyone! ?? This content analysis might be of interest. Mohamad Hamas Elmasry examined how popular Western broadcast news channels—BBC News, CNN, Fox News, Sky News, and MSNBC—used #Instagram to cover the initial phase of the fifth #Israel-#Gaza. He found that studied outlets favored Israel. Specifically: Studied outlets consistently favored Israeli and pro-Israeli sources over Palestinian and pro-Palestinian sources; highlighted Israeli victims while neglecting Palestinian victims; and framed Israeli violence as self-defense while framing Palestinian violence as aggression.
