"It is your civic and professional duty to participate in the electoral process, exercising one of your key freedoms of life in the United States. Voting allows you the opportunity to hold elected officials accountable for their actions and to represent your values in their future legislative actions. You have the power as a nurse to influence health policy at the federal, state, and local levels by first exercising your right to vote, to advocate for patients and policies, and to use your activism for change." https://ow.ly/7Isp50SKmxZ

According to a global analysis of cancer data, approximately 325,000 new cases of melanoma and 57,000 deaths caused by melanoma occurred in 2020. The incidence of melanoma varied significantly across different countries and regions of the world. If the rates observed in 2020 remain unchanged, it is projected that the global burden of melanoma will rise to approximately 510,000 new cases and 96,000 deaths by the year 2040. https://ow.ly/hf8C50SKnzM

Welcome new JDNA Editorial Board member, Melissa Adair, DNP, FNP-BC, DCNP! Dr. Adair is an experienced dermatology nurse practitioner from Oregon. She states, “I find the JDNA to be an invaluable resource for keeping abreast of dermatology knowledge and for helping to foster excellence and professionalism for nurses within the dermatology field. My work as a peer reviewer for the JDNA over the past year has helped to grow my own sense of professionalism and belonging to the dermatology nursing community, which I have found to be of enormous benefit to my career. I love scholarly writing and gaining knowledge through research, and I am delighted to be contributing to the field of dermatology in ways that extend beyond direct patient care. As a member of the JDNA Editorial Board, I dedicate myself to the advancement of the field of dermatology nursing and its premier publication though authorship, promotion of the journal, mentorship, and peer review.”
