Physical activity plays a critical role in managing and preventing type 2 diabetes, yet sustaining long-term engagement remains a challenge. The SMART Health study tested a multicomponent intervention for schoolteachers at risk of or diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, comparing face-to-face behavioral support with and without a technology-based behavior change package. Results showed that while step counts did not significantly increase, self-reported resistance training improved in both intervention groups. Notably, these gains persisted at 9 months for one group, highlighting the potential of structured support in fostering long-term exercise habits. ?? Socioeconomic and gender inequalities shape adolescent physical activity patterns in ways that often go unrecognized. A recent qualitative study conducted in Madrid highlights key factors influencing these disparities, including access to structured activities, socioeconomic barriers, and unacknowledged privilege among higher-income adolescents. Findings suggest that promoting adolescent physical activity requires a strong focus on equity and gender perspectives. ?? Integrating #PhysicalActivity into the school day can benefit both student health and learning. A recent study reports findings from a statewide initiative developed a web-based resource for movement integration, supporting comprehensive school physical activity programs. A survey of school nurses found that 40% had used and shared the site, with activities and videos cited as key benefits. By embedding physical activity into daily routines, schools can support student health and academic success. As well, school nurses play a key role in advocating for movement-based learning, bridging the gap between health promotion and education. ?? Participating in teamwork-based #PhysicalActivities during university can strengthen trust and collaboration among students and faculty. A randomized controlled trial in Zagreb, Croatia, found that students engaged in group exercises reported higher levels of social capital, particularly in academic relationships, compared to those doing individual activities. These findings highlight the value of integrating collaborative physical education into higher education curricula to promote social inclusion and well-being. ?? How do exercise preferences shape the intention–behavior gap in physical activity? A new study used ecological momentary assessment and accelerometry to examine how individuals translate their intentions into actual movement. Findings revealed that those with a preference for high-intensity exercise were more likely to follow through on their plans to be active the next day, while exercise tolerance had no significant effect. Understanding how personal preferences influence behavior can help design more effective interventions to increase physical activity engagement. ??
