关于我们
The Joshua M. Freeman Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, was established in 2007 to honor Josh Freeman, the former Chair of the Carl M. Freeman Companies, after his untimely death in December of 2006. The Foundation seeks to honor Josh’s passion and commitment to excellence by creating programs he would have been proud of. These programs include Freeman Arts Pavilion, previously The Freeman Stage, an outdoor performance venue near Fenwick Island, which presents over 60 performances a year, and our Arts Access Initiative, which provides K-12 students and underserved families of Delmarva year-round, high-quality, diverse arts experiences at no cost. Annually, more than 80,000 residents and visitors are impacted through our mission of creating opportunities that elevate the human spirit.

October is National Arts & Humanities Month! ?? This year's theme, 'The Arts Within You,' highlights how the arts can boost well-being and strengthen community bonds, which is central to our mission of advancing arts access for all. Americans for the Arts reveals how the arts can help us cope with our ever-changing world in many ways, here are a few: ?? 1. Creativity and Expression: Artistic activities such as painting, writing, or music offer a way to express emotions and thoughts. ??2. Therapeutic Benefits: Art can reduce stress and anxiety levels and promote well being during difficult times. ???3. Connection and Reflection: The arts can evoke emotions and foster connections with others. Engaging with the arts provides a sense of belonging in a constantly evolving world. As Halloween approaches, spooky season is top of mind. But could you imagine a life without music, theatre, dance, or visual arts? No concerts to lift your spirits or performances to spark your imagination — now that's scary. ?? At the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation, we believe in the transformative power of the arts. Since 2008, we’ve worked tirelessly to create experiences that elevate the human spirit. Over 1 million guests have visited Freeman Arts Pavilion — including more than 200,000 community members who have experienced the arts through our Arts Access Initiative, which provides year-round, high-quality, diverse arts experiences at no cost to participants. Did you know? More than 53% of our programming is free to attend, with 22% of our total impact coming from free events, whether it’s at our venue, schools or the community at large. It’s easy for us to understand why the arts are essential, but data from the Americans for the Arts further emphasizes the powerful impact: ? Arts drive tourism and revenue to local businesses and strengthen the economy. ?? Students engaged in arts learning have higher GPAs, standardized test scores and college-going rates as well as lower drop-out rates. ??Arts not only unify communities, but also have a social impact and improve healthcare. ? How can you help? You can help us keep the arts alive and accessible to all as a ticket buyer, donor or volunteer. Together, we can ensure that the arts continue to thrive — let’s commit to ensuring that a world without the arts remains nothing more than a scary idea.
