Why are we okay with feeding this to our children?! During a recent stay at a beautiful hotel abroad, I enjoyed a breakfast buffet filled with fresh vegetables, fruits, lean meats, smoked fish, and eggs— whole foods that nourish and energize. Yet, the “Kids Section” told a very different story: donuts, sugary waffles, muffins, and processed snacks. Why are these foods considered acceptable for children when adults are offered wholesome options? We often hear that Europeans eat better than Americans and ban food chemicals that the U.S. still allows. But seeing this contrast made me realize how we've normalized refined carbs and sugar as “kids’ food" internationally. I’m expecting my first child soon, and I’ve already decided: I won’t let convenience or cultural norms dictate my child’s health. Children deserve the same high-quality, nutritious foods as adults—if not better. Parents, am I off base here?
