Today, Jones & Jones honors Indigenous Peoples Day by reflecting on the vital work we’re doing alongside Tribes around the country. The Tribes’ dedication to preserving cultural heritage, promoting sustainable practices, and being stewards of the land is close to one of our core principles, and is stronger than ever. Together, we’re amplifying Indigenous voices, sharing traditional knowledge, and fostering community resilience. Let’s continue to celebrate and support the rich histories, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples every day. In observance of this day, Jones & Jones will be closed Monday, October 14th. Photo: University of Washington Intellectual House, Seattle, Washington

Today, @SanDiegoZooWildlife Alliance signed a new conservation agreement with China Wildlife Conservation Association and filed a permit application through U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Collaboration is at the root of successful wildlife conservation, and for nearly 30 years this partnership has provided key insights into giant panda biology, ecology and wellbeing. Though wild giant panda populations are increasing, continued conservation efforts are required to ensure their continued recovery in the face of against challenges such as population isolation, climate change, and habitat fragmentation. Our considerable expertise in caring for giant pandas well positions us to not only care for the next generation but also to learn from the giant pandas in our care to better protect their wild counterparts and their ecosystems. We have an incredible opportunity to further our scientific understanding of this iconic species and its role across their forest and mountain ecosystems. There is still much work to be done to ensure that giant pandas remain on the path to recovery, and I look forward to our next steps in this collaborative process.

Word is out! We are so excited that the Detroit Zoo has announced plans for the new Kid Zone, a $24 million project that will begin construction next month. Jones & Jones has been working on the design for the last two years. This project is of one many that came from the 2013 master plan that Jones & Jones worked with the zoo to develop. This 7-acre project will include a treehouse structure; climbing and active play areas; a water feature; habitats for prairie dogs, anteaters, and bush dogs; a reimagined barnyard; and much more. We'll be sure to share progress photos as this exciting project becomes reality! https://lnkd.in/gjFE-zWt
