In 2025, your code won’t carry you.?Your collaboration skills will. Teams will remain smaller and leaner, requiring everyone to not just be a star contributor, but also a star teammate. Some engineers struggle in the workplace, not because they don’t have the technical skills, but because they don’t know how to collaborate with others to solve complex problems. Technical skills alone won’t get you where you need to go. As a software engineer, you need to have interpersonal qualities. These soft skills will give you an edge in the hiring process and allow you to solve complex problems by working well on a team. This was something I talked about recently on the podcast American Optimist with Joe Lonsdale ?? By investing in and developing these qualities, you’ll be a better engineer and professional in 2025.
