Joint European Drone Associations (JEDA)

DIAS fully supports the Federal Council’s commitment to maintaining Switzerland’s leading international position in the #drone industry and unlocking the economic potential of civil drone applications. Ensuring #safe and efficient access to airspace for drones, along with their integration into the #aviation system, is a cornerstone of achieving this goal. This effort requires the digitalisation and automation of processes and close collaboration among the Confederation, cantons, cities, airspace users, and other stakeholders. Once again, Switzerland demonstrates its position at the forefront of innovation. This report not only provides a long-term vision but also sets ambitious targets for 2025. DIAS is proud to see that its #SwissDroneReport 2024 contributed valuable input to this effort. We remain dedicated to collaborating with Federal Office of Civil Aviation Switzerland FOCA and other stakeholders to ensure the safe use, and widespread acceptance and adoption of drones.

The Drone Forum 2024 was a tremendous success, bringing together international and Hungarian experts, stakeholders, and government representatives to discuss the future of drone technology. Hosted at Széchenyi István Egyetemán University, this premier event highlighted key topics such as: ?? Drone regulation and the evolving framework for safe and effective usage ?? Innovations in U-Space development ?? The transformative role of drones in urban and economic applications As the Joint European Drone Association (JEDA), we were honored to contribute to this vibrant exchange of ideas and advancements. We’d like to extend special recognition to Julie Garland, Vidmantas Kairys, and Stefan Hristozov, whose invaluable insights and leadership were instrumental in shaping the discussions. Their expertise highlighted how drones can revolutionize industries while addressing critical regulatory and operational challenges. The event also featured esteemed speakers such as Jakub Karas from Unmanned Aerial Alliance Czech Republic, Dr. Eduardo García González from CANSO Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation, Emilien Watelet from ID2Move, and alexander lena from DCL - Drone Champions League, who enriched the forum with their expertise and perspectives. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the organizers of Drone Forum 2024 for their dedication and effort in creating such an impactful event. Your hard work made this incredible gathering of minds and ideas possible. The Drone Forum 2024 not only showcased cutting-edge technologies but also fostered meaningful international collaborations that will continue to strengthen the global drone ecosystem. Last week, DIAS - Drone Industry Association Switzerland participated in the EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency IAM Implementation Forum. Our President Aurélie Joy Pascual-Werner and our Board Member Nathanel Apter were involved as part of their roles within Joint European Drone Associations (JEDA). This Forum provided the Industry with a great opportunity to meet Aviation Authorities and enhance regulatory effectiveness. Key topics were discussed including #iConspicuity, #GNSS issues, #Uspace, C2 link using mobile network, #testing, #automation, and #safety. EASA introduced its new IAM Hub, a platform which aims to facilitate the safe, secure, efficient and sustainable implementation of IAM practices. The Forum highlighted the importance of Safety, focusing on the need for data and occurrence reporting.

While the in person registrations are closed we would encourage all JEDA associations to promote the event amongst your members so demonstrate through an online presence how important it is for industry and regulators to come together in forums like this. Dear Drone Community JEDA (Join European Drone Associations) is excited to announce the launch of the major JEDA 2024 survey. ?The survey is a joint effort by Competence Group 1 and aims to gather valuable feedback from European drone operators and other stakeholders about their successes, challenges, and expectations. We are at a pivotal moment where European authorities and institutions are open to suggestions for refining the initial European regulations to foster the harmonious development of the drone sector. The survey consists of 25 questions related to respondent profiles, regulatory challenges, aeronautical information and geographical zones, registration, and exams.
