When #HurricaneHelene and #HurricaneMilton barreled toward Florida last month, healthcare organizations had to move quickly to evacuate or buckle down to bear the storms. As climate change makes these types of severe weather threats stronger and more frequent, healthcare organizations must be ready to implement their emergency plans at a moment's notice. The Joint Commission has published Sentinel Event Alert 69, "Environmental Disasters: Preparing to Safely Evacuate or Shelter in Place," to help healthcare organizations prepare and respond to hurricanes, wildfires, and more. Download the alert: https://lnkd.in/gzSBa9D7 Photo: Staff at Tampa General Hospital install a water-impermeable barrier around their facility to prevent flooding.
