The volume of trade between #Switzerland and #Moldova has been limited to date. In 2022, total trade was CHF 76 million and there is potential for trade to grow between the two countries. Switzerland mainly exports pharmaceutical products, vehicles and machinery to Moldova and imports primarily textiles, machinery and agricultural products. In June 2023, the EFTA states concluded a free trade agreement with the Republic of Moldova, which will boost economic and trade relations between the four EFTA countries and Moldova, for example by increasing market access and strengthening the legal framework for businesses. Uzbek-Afghan Joint Economic Activity Tashkent and Kabul, are considering the creation of a joint trade zone on the border, the construction of a cement plant in #Samangan, and investment in oil and gas extraction. #Uzbekistan will increase electricity supplies, reduce tariffs, and lift restrictions on agricultural exports. After years of close partnership and active collaboration, the Joint Chamber of Commerce Switzerland-Eastern Europe, Central Asia, South Caucasus JCC and Switzerland Global Enterprise signed an official Memorandum of Understanding on February 25, 2025 enshrining their planned multi-year cooperation on paper. SGE represented by Michael Kuehn has been on the JCC board for over a decade. JCC thanks him and Xavier Cornut for the friendship and partnership. We look forward to reaching new heights together in our work to build Swiss trade and investment in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the South Caucasus.

Kazakhstan's Kazatomprom, the state-run nuclear energy firm, has struck a deal with Switzerland's Axpo Group and Kernkraftwerk Leibstadt AG (KKL AG) to supply uranium to two nuclear power plants in Switzerland. Swiss companies’?international business activities are exposed to certain risks on the compliance and bribery front. The disruptions resulting from a region’s political instability are likely to increase institutional weaknesses and bribery exposure. Despite robust compliance programs addressing corruption, companies report that they continue to face undue solicitations, some of which can qualify as extortion. On February 20, 2025, JCC’s Legal and Tax Chapter organized a webinar on the topic “Resisting Extortion in International Business Activities“.
