SAVE THE DATES! ?? Two of Virginia's largest and most beloved events return this fall to Downtown Richmond! The Richmond Folk Festival, in partnership with National Council for the Traditional Arts (NCTA) and City of Richmond, Virginia, will take place Oct. 10-12, 2025. The festival is in its 21st year of celebrating the roots, richness, and variety of American culture along Downtown Richmond’s riverfront. The 2nd Street Festival in Jackson Ward, in partnership with the City of Richmond, Virginia, will take place October 4-5. The festival is in its 37th year of celebrating the rich culture of Downtown Richmond's historic Jackson Ward neighborhood. “Venture Richmond Events is proud to produce these two fall festivals that continue to bring such optimism and joy to people from all over Richmond and Virginia.” said Stephen Lecky, director of events for Venture Richmond. “Together they represent a shared exhibition of heritage and new experiences, whether they are the rich traditions of the historic Jackson Ward community, or those from around the nation and the world presented on Downtown’s riverfront.”

Riverfront Canal Cruises launches a full season of historic tours and private charters on Friday, April 4! ?? The 40-minute, historically narrated tours of the James River and Kanawha Canal travel along downtown Richmond's historic Canal Walk and review centuries of Richmond’s history, from Powhatan’s Chiefdom to the first commercially successful electric streetcar in the world, all while traveling in authentically styled, flat-bottomed boats. Travelers can see ??? ??? The unique Triple Crossing railroad ??? Historic 19th century architecture ?? The Virginia Capital Trail ?? The Low Line gardens ?? James River wildlife ?? Throughout the season, tours operate seven days a week from May through September, with varying hours in April, October, and November. ??? Tours depart on the hour from the canal’s Turning Basin at 139 Virginia Street, in Downtown Richmond. ?? Boats can accommodate up to 25 passengers and are handicap accessible. ??? Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis at the Turning Basin’s ticket kiosk and online up to 18 hours in advance. ?? Canal Cruise private charters are also available as one- or two-hour private boat tours that are a favorite for family reunions, celebrating birthdays and engagements, corporate retreats, business groups, churches, clubs, and many more group outings. ?? Private charters may be scheduled for any day and time during the season but must be reserved a minimum of two weeks in advance. All reservations must be made online. ??
