Omnibus has landed ?? here's the key information you need to know: What's happened? The Omnibus Package is a series of proposed changes to simplify and align EU sustainability reporting requirements. Key regulations that are impacted include CSRD, CS3D and the EU Taxonomy. Key proposed changes CSRD ?? Reporting now applies to organizations with 1,000+ employees and either €50M+ turnover or €25M+ balance sheet - this represents 80% fewer companies in scope compared to the previous version ?? Two-year postponement for those that remain in scope of CSRD but have not yet reported ?? Plans for sector-specific standards removed ?? Double materiality remains CS3D ?? CS3D and CSRD thresholds have been aligned? ?? Application delayed to 2028 ?? Due diligence is limited to direct (Tier 1) suppliers ?? Monitoring frequency reduced from annual to every five years EU Taxonomy ?? Companies in scope for reporting have been aligned with the CSRD? ?? Reporting is now voluntary for most companies ?? Simplified DNSH (Do No Significant Harm) criteria What About SFDR? The Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) remains unchanged and continues to apply to investors including Venture Capital, Private Equity firms and banks. SFDR directly and indirectly affects a vast number of companies, shaping sustainability reporting and compliance requirements across the financial sector. Given its significance, Kara remains dedicated to supporting financial institutions in navigating SFDR compliance efficiently and effectively. What happens next? The proposal now moves to the European Parliament for further discussion and potential revisions. What does this mean for you? While these changes could simplify reporting for many, they also highlight the growing importance of robust sustainability data and strategic sustainability management.
