Loved these responses to Jenny Just's discussion on @financialfeministpodcast discussing compound experience. They talk about how saying yes brings you closer to where you want to be, bringing back this concept of "compound experience" because it builds with each risk / failure / success. That's why we love the game of poker - because we flex these muscles and get used to calculated risk-taking in a safe space. Check out Jenny Just's episode on @herfirst100k with @toridunlap "Getting comfortable with risk-taking" and learn more about the applications of compound experience in business and life. Did you know poker is more than just a card game? It's a training ground and toolkit to empower success in business and in life. We couldn't agree more with Gunjan Banerji's piece in The Wall Street Journal about the benefits of playing for investors and traders. She investigates why market-leading firms want their traders to play poker. Susquehanna International Group has their "young traders spend at least 100 hours playing cards during their 10-week training program." Poker is a means to help you achieve your goals, build your business, and develop the skills needed to take your seat at any table. But with the opportunity to play being more common for men, PEAK6 Founder, Jenny Just, created Poker Power for women. We want to give women the same opportunity men have to learn and improve critical business and life skills through poker gameplay. And while poker can be a means to level up in investing, we think the benefits reach well beyond that the world of finance. Dive into the article to learn more about Gunjan's observations!
In my seven years reporting for The Wall Street Journal, countless traders and investors have brought up the game of poker to me. Some have said the card game shaped how they thought about taking risks in markets from stocks to bonds and options. I always heard about the late-night games over drinks. One of the largest market-making firms, Susquehanna, even uses poker to train its traders. So this year, I decided to jump in the action and learn the game. I’ve been playing No-Limit Texas Hold-Em since January. Recently, I invited Susquehanna exec Todd Simkin and Moo Point founder Jeremy Wien (a WSOP bracelet winner!) to WSJ’s newsroom for a game—and an interview. Seriously, we set up a poker room in WSJ studios. I wrote about it for WSJ today. https://lnkd.in/eJgzwMPe I’m curious--have you played? Would love to hear your experience in the comments ????

Learn from your mistakes and MOVE FORWARD. You got this. Mistakes are a part of life AND a part of poker. We're excited to learn from our successes, but sometimes what we learn from our mistakes is even more valuable. And that's what we teach and learn at our table. A poker player's mindset shifts our thinking into learning from every failure, dusting ourselves off, and getting ready to play again. We get more confident in our decision making and we become quicker at accessing our cards (on and off that table). #mondaymotivation #inspiration

We are all about flexing that muscle to practice risk-taking and celebrating failure at the poker table in a safe and welcoming environment. The earlier we learn, the more beneficial. Get started and learn to play life differently. https://lnkd.in/e9ykNg-A
