We're celebrating #WorldTeachersDay by spotlighting a few of our amazing Poker Power instructors! Our instructors have gone above and beyond while teaching hundreds of women+ poker strategies that translate to career and life skills. Meet our instructors: Tammi Endemann- "I started playing poker nine years ago, and now I’m a pro who wins consistently. As a business owner for 20 years, I’ve seen firsthand the overlap in discipline, patience, risk analysis, networking and determination. I’m excited to teach you the game too!" Carly Gorman- "I learned poker from my father at a young age and it has been a significant part of my life ever since. Before joining Poker Power, I was a Managing Partner for the largest executive recruiting firm in the country, and I wouldn’t have achieved my level of success without this game. Poker has enriched my life intellectually, socially, and monetarily, so I am passionate about giving women that same opportunity." Lisa Pickell- A professional poker player and coach. She is the first woman to win the World Series of Poker Circuit ring in NLH, and has played the WSOP Circuit and WPT events for years. Lisa is also a coach for Poker Power, whose mission is to have one million women playing poker Please help us in thanking not only Tammi, Carly and Lisa, but all of our instructors at Poker Power for their dedication to teaching women+ valuable career and poker skills. Ever thought poker could teach business skills? It can. Last week, South Park Commons teamed up with Poker Power to host a women’s poker night. I had never played before, but I quickly realized that poker skills are life skills. Poker Power is on a mission to teach women how to: 1??Negotiate 2??Assess risk 3??Make confident decisions These are skills we often aren't always encouraged to develop, but poker makes you bet on yourself, read others, and take calculated risks. Huge thanks to South Park Commons, Poker Power, Orrick Tech and Mercury especially Lisa Pickell and Susannah Laster for such an empowering event! I loved meeting everyone at the event, and it was very refreshing.

Loved these responses to Jenny Just's discussion on @financialfeministpodcast discussing compound experience. They talk about how saying yes brings you closer to where you want to be, bringing back this concept of "compound experience" because it builds with each risk / failure / success. That's why we love the game of poker - because we flex these muscles and get used to calculated risk-taking in a safe space. Check out Jenny Just's episode on @herfirst100k with @toridunlap "Getting comfortable with risk-taking" and learn more about the applications of compound experience in business and life.
