ACT leads the just, equitable and rapid transition to a clean energy future and diverse climate economy. ACT is the Alliance for Climate Transition and ACT Institute. ACT helps clean energy companies start, scale and succeed with our unique business, innovation and policy leadership. We bring together business leaders and key stakeholders to engage in influential policy discussions and business initiatives while building connections that propel the clean energy industry forward. Our results-oriented team is highly skilled at turning a clear vision into reality and effectively influencing policy to build a world-class clean energy hub in the Northeast. The New England Clean Energy Council (NECEC) was formed in late 2006 when leaders in the Massachusetts’ clean energy industry saw the need for a regional business association to convene clean energy stakeholders dedicated to growing the state and the region’s clean energy economy. In October 2015, reflecting our growing activities in New York State and the rapidly growing community of member companies doing business in New York and across New England, NECEC became the Northeast Clean Energy Council. In September 2024, NECEC rebranded to ACT (The Alliance for Climate Transition) to reflect our expanding member base and broader mission to transition to a diverse climate economy.

?? The Future of Climate Action: ACT | The Alliance for Climate Transition President Joe Curtatone Weighs In ?? In a recent article by Adam Goldstein in the New Bedford Light, Joe Curtatone emphasizes both the challenges and opportunities ahead for climate work under a new president. “It’d be difficult to go back on a lot of the IRA, but that doesn’t mean [Trump] won’t try. Now is the time to double down on our vigilance, to be vocal, active, and informed.” Curtatone also noted that while grant funds are likely safe due to legal protections, potential changes to tax credits for solar and offshore wind could impact investments, jobs, and communities across the country. Despite these concerns, local clean energy leaders remain confident in the IRA's durability, citing bipartisan support and legal safeguards. Curtatone reminds us that collective action and advocacy will be essential to protecting and advancing the climate transition. ?? Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gswrzjXD

?? Driving Clean Transportation Forward: Insights from ACT President Joe Curtatone at AEG’s Clean Transportation Summit ?? Last week, ACT President Joe Curtatone joined the Advanced Energy Group's Clean Transportation Summit to address one of the Northeast's most pressing challenges: reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector. ?? Transportation remains the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the Northeast, with medium- and heavy-duty vehicles disproportionately impacting Environmental Justice communities. These emissions exacerbate public health crises, including asthma and respiratory diseases, making clean transportation solutions a matter of health equity and climate action. ?? ?Joe highlighted the critical role of charging infrastructure and grid upgrades to support the electrification of large fleets. ?He praised recent proactive measures, such as the New York Public Service Commission’s directive for utilities to evaluate future energy loads and plan for grid enhancements. As we navigate these challenges, the Clean Transportation Summit serves as a reminder of the power of shared insights, strategic partnerships, and bold action. Thank you to Advanced Energy Group, National Grid, ParkMyFleet, and Driivz for convening this important conversation and supporting the transition to healthier, more sustainable communities. A huge shoutout to Jessica Lang and H.G. Chissell for making this possible! ?? Must Read: Dialogue NOT Disinformation Should Lead in the Climate Transition ?? Setting the Record Straight on Energy Storage and Clean Energy Costs by Francis Pullaro, President of RENEW Northeast, and Joe Curtatone, President of ACT | The Alliance for Climate Transition, is a powerful op-ed in Commonwealth Magazine, which addresses the Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance’s alarmist claims about the just-passed energy storage legislation. As Massachusetts navigates a critical transition to a modern, clean energy grid, honest, fact-based dialogue is essential. Key points from the op-ed: ?? Energy Storage Saves Money: Strategic investments in energy storage reduce grid congestion, prevent wasted renewable energy, and lower long-term system costs for ratepayers. ?? Public Health & Equity: By displacing fossil-fueled peaker plants in vulnerable communities, energy storage cuts harmful emissions, addressing longstanding health and economic inequities. ?? Winter Reliability: Far from leaving us “freezing,” storage enhances energy security and reduces dependence on volatile fossil fuel markets. Any honest discussion of energy costs must include the cost of inaction. Failing to invest in clean energy infrastructure will perpetuate reliance on expensive, polluting fossil fuels, leaving taxpayers to bear the financial and human costs of climate disasters, increased healthcare expenses, and food system disruptions caused by extreme weather. The costs of wildfires, floods, and droughts—all exacerbated by climate change—are already being paid by Massachusetts residents in real dollars and lost jobs. Massachusetts has always been a leader in innovation. Let’s ensure we continue to make data-driven decisions to build a sustainable and equitable energy future. ?? ?? Maine’s Climate Crisis: Three Stories of Resilience and Adaptation ?? Maine is renowned for its natural bounty—wild blueberries, fresh seafood, and a vibrant farm-to-table culture. But as climate change intensifies, the challenges facing our state’s farmers, fishermen, and restaurateurs are mounting. Three stories written by Boston Globe Media’s Ivy S. and Sabrina Shankman reveal how this fight is unfolding across our fields, oceans, and kitchens: ?? Wild Blueberries: Once a hardy symbol of Maine’s agricultural heritage, wild blueberries are struggling with unseasonable harvests, fall blooms, and shrinking snowpack. Growers like those at Wyman’s Blueberries are adapting with precision irrigation, innovative fertilizers, and earlier pollination. It’s a race against time to preserve this $360M industry that defines Maine’s landscape. https://lnkd.in/eFp6-ATZ ?? The Lobster Industry: January storms devastated the Stonington harbor, washing away docks, piers, and livelihoods. As seas rise and storms intensify, lobstermen are rethinking how to build for the future. https://lnkd.in/ekp9BxYZ ?? Farm-to-Table Restaurants: Erratic weather is disrupting local food supply chains, from carrots washed out by rain to lobster catches declining in warming waters. Chefs like Jake Stevens of Portland’s Leeward face rising costs and tough choices, striving to preserve the local ingredients that make Maine’s culinary scene so special. https://lnkd.in/e86v2rEx These stories aren’t just about challenges—they’re about innovation, resilience, and community. Maine’s farmers, fishermen, and small businesses are working tirelessly to adapt, but they can’t do it alone. With Federal action likely to slow down, we must drive action at the state level to preserve jobs and the economy. #ClimateChange #Sustainability #MaineEconomy #FarmToTable #WildBlueberries #LobsterIndustry #Resilience #SupportLocal
