Johnson Outdoors & Major League Fishing: United for a Cleaner Future? ?? We’re excited to recap the recent success of the Clean Earth Challenge! On Monday, August 5, professional anglers from the Bass Pro Tour, MLF staff, and local teams in New York and Kentucky came together to make a significant impact on our environment.? ?? Despite challenging weather conditions, our dedicated volunteers collected over 1,082 pieces of trash from the St. Lawrence River in New York and Kentucky Lake. A special thank you to the Louisville (New York) Recreation & Maintenance Department for their ongoing efforts to maintain such a beautiful and clean environment at the Massena Intake Boat Launch.? ?? Tarleton State University #CleanEarthChallenge Recap The 2024 season of the Clean Earth Challenge is officially underway, and one of the first notable events is successfully complete. On April 12th, the dedicated student volunteers of Tarleton State University's subunit of the American Fisheries Society demonstrated commendable effort, collecting 137.05 lbs of debris during Phase 1 of the Bosque River trash cleanup. However, their commitment to environmental responsibility doesn’t stop there. Phases 2 and 3 are already planned for summer and fall, paving the way for a winter rainbow trout stocking and youth fishing event. We were honored to have Steven Bardin, president of the Texas American Fisheries Society, join us in recognizing the exceptional endeavors of these students. "TCAFS is consistently proud to endorse our student subunits in their endeavors to enhance their communities," he remarked. "Through the orchestration of this successful initiative, these students have taken a significant stride towards providing an elevated recreational experience for the anglers of Stephenville."? ?? What a weekend we had at the Major League Fishing REDCREST Outdoor Sports Expo in Birmingham, AL a few weeks ago! Our Minn Kota and Humminbird Pros rocked Lay Lake with their skills and passion for the sport.? Not only that, but the MLF Fisheries Management Division (Steven Bardin), MLF staff, Bass Pro Tour anglers Gary Klein and Grae Buck, and Alabama Power staff kicked off Renew our Rivers’ Logan Martin weeklong cleanup, offloading a barge full of trash collected Saturday morning (March 16th). The event, in conjunction with the #CleanEarthChallenge was created to celebrate Renew Our Rivers and the MLF REDCREST Championship. It was followed up with by #MinnKotaMotors Habitat Restoration Project Supported by the KVD Foundation and MossBack Fish Habitat to cap off the weekend.? ? The trash collected helped get us so much closer to our goal of 4 Million pieces of trash collected by Earth Day. Great job, team!? ? Thanks to everyone who made this event unforgettable.
