This week,?I attended American Chamber of Commerce Ireland’s 2025 Global Business Conference, which took place on Wed 26 February in Croke Park. Ireland is recognized as a leading RD&I location for FDI – and I joined a panel to discuss this topic along with?Paul Kelleher, AmCham’s Southern Region Chair and Vice President of Engineering for QT Technologies Ireland Limited (Qualcomm?Ireland);?Triona McCormack, Vice-President for Strategy and External Engagement,?University College Dublin?and?Graham Abell?VP, Software Engineering & Ireland Site Lead,?Workday We explored the importance of alignment between funding opportunities and research priorities in strengthening Ireland’s ability to provide a vibrant research ecosystem that positively impacts Irish society and industry. Ireland has hugely benefitted from a stable political environment over the past 40 years. We have maintained a pro-enterprise policy agenda, and this has been very attractive from an investment perspective. In terms of policy, the new Programme for Government contains many commitments around competitiveness.?That’s to be welcomed.
