50 years ago this morning, Johnson County MED-ACT went in service and began our rich history of providing high quality emergency medical care to the residents and visitors of Johnson County. We are proud of our legacy and look forward to our future.

Johnson County MED-ACT is the Emergency Services provider for Johnson County, KS. Johnson County Kansas is made up of 476 square miles, with other 560,000 residents. In 2019, MED-ACT responded to over 46,346 EMS calls. Our operations staff is comprised of 146 providers who work in 24 hour shifts on a rotating modified berkeley schedule. We have 20 front line ambulances including 3 impact units and 2 squad units that help us provide care for our community members.

On Monday March 10th Battalion Chiefs at MED-ACT began to utilize body worn cameras while on EMS incidents. The purpose of these devices is to improve crew safety and to accurately document events, actions, conditions and statements made during these incidents. The footage is secure and protected by HIPAA laws and can be used for post incident reviews, internal training, and other purposes consistent with MED-ACT’s mission.
