I had the privilege of attending the Neighbourhood Housing Services of Chicago’s ( NHS) 50th Anniversary Gala last night, a truly special evening celebrating community impact and leadership. It was inspiring to see former Cook County Judge and current NHS President and CEO Anthony Simpkins recognized for his incredible contributions to the community. The event was held at the stunning Museum of Science and Industry, providing the perfect backdrop for such a meaningful occasion. I also had the opportunity to connect with Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Congressman Chuy Garcia, and many other dedicated individuals committed to making a difference. A big congratulations to NHS on this milestone and to Anthony for his amazing work!

Last Friday, Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart visited the Downtown Islamic Center (DIC) during the holy month of Ramadhan, reaffirming his commitment to inclusivity and support for diverse communities. His visit carried a strong message of solidarity, particularly for religious minority groups. Sheriff Dart has consistently advocated for marginalized communities, including establishing a "discrimination hotline" to assist those facing religious or ethnic discrimination. During his visit, he encouraged individuals to utilize this resource if they ever experience discrimination and assured them of his unwavering support. We deeply appreciate leaders like Sheriff Dart who take meaningful steps to foster a more inclusive and supportive society.
