E-scooters are transforming urban environments by improving mobility for those without access to a motor vehicle or in areas underserved by transit. Research by Andrew Hellinger, Johnathon P. Ehsani, and Jeffrey Michael suggests e-scooters are being used in targeted zones where underserved areas to facilitate travel and access to work and school destinations. In 2023, 97% of deaths from preventable poisoning were due to drug overdoses. Substances such as illegal drugs and prescription medications are known risk factors for a host of injuries.
