Taking a stroll down memory lane today and reminiscing on some of the amazing fundraising events we have put together in the past in order to connect with the community and raise funds to bring the John P. Connors Memorial Project to life. Each gathering has been a testament to what we can achieve together, from our first Gala event to the Barking Crab event which brought together so many special people for this project, These events have not only helped us advance our mission to build the John P. Connors Memorial but have also deepened our community bonds and shared commitment to honoring our heroes. Recently, Tom had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful Bleu Frog Winery in Leesburg, VA, where generosity flows as freely as the wine. A heartfelt thank you to Jan and Joe Kernan, the wonderful owners, for their incredible support of the John P. Connors Memorial Fund. During our visit, alongside Van Moffatt (WPI '87, CDR USN Ret), they not only enjoyed the exceptional hospitality and stunning vineyard views but also discussed our ongoing efforts to honor our heroes. Jan and Joe generously donated several bottles of their finest wine to our previous silent auctions so for anyone in the VA/MD/DC area, we highly recommend experiencing the food, wine, and ambiance that Bleu Frog has to offer. Together, we're making strides toward our goal 'Till the Statue Stands.'

On this 11th day of the 11th month, the John P. Connors Memorial Fund pauses on Veterans Day 2024 to honor all veterans. The fabric of our nation is interwoven with the service of veterans like Lieutenant Junior Grade John P. Connors, U.S. Navy and the seven members of the fund’s Executive Committee who have over 130 years of combined service to our nation through the Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force.? ? Our magnificent statue, designed by nationally renowned sculptor Chas Fagan honors all veterans of the modern era after Operation DESERT SHIELD/DESERT STORM in 1991. It does not bear John Connors’ name, but is in his likeness.?In this way, the statue named “Aliis” honors all veterans. Aliis is Latin for “To Others, For Others, With Others.”?This is a perfect way to honor John Connors and all veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice.? ? Veterans Day is a day to honor service in its many facets. Veterans continue to serve long after they take off the uniform; in their community, places of worship, and locations far and wide. John Connors not only served his nation in uniform, but also volunteered in the Boston College High School and WPI communities. If he was with us today, he would still carry that torch of service which was passed from his parents Joe and Joan Connors.? ? ? Executive Committee John P.
