I had the privilege of attending and presenting at #ACHECongress an inspiring event that brings together leaders in healthcare. I presented two sessions: one on Elevating Patient Throughput and another on Integrated Behavioral Health, collaborating with truly outstanding colleagues from the American Hospital Association and John Muir Health. The opportunity to reconnect with friends while learning and networking with peers was invaluable. We turn our attention to another remarkable member of our team who exemplifies the power of empathy and support in this month’s Employee Spotlight. Meet Eryka, whose dedication to JMH extends beyond the workplace. Reflecting on her involvement in our Employee Giving Campaign, Eryka shares, “I lost my sweet brother 11 years ago from colon cancer when he was only 42 years old. Cancer was a silent enemy; when it manifested, it was already too late at stage 4. It was so aggressive that my brother only lasted nine months with us. My brother was the light of our lives, and I will forever cherish the love he shared. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t pray and hope for a cure for such a horrible disease. If I can participate in finding a cure and help to build our Cancer Center in honor of my brother and every cancer survivor and soul that has gone to Heaven, it will be my honor.” #EmployeeSpotlight #ColonCancerAwareness #EmployeeGiving #GiveHealth

?? A New Lease on Life: Puneet's Heartfelt Story ?? Meet Puneet, a dedicated technical product manager, loving husband, and proud father. His heart health journey began at just 10 years old when he underwent surgery to treat a narrowing aorta. The procedure allowed Puneet to live an active and fulfilling life. But several years later during a routine cardiology checkup, Puneet’s doctor discovered an aortic aneurysm—one that had grown to twice its normal size. Although Puneet had no symptoms, the news left him feeling anxious and uncertain about his future. Fortunately, he was in the care of a compassionate and highly skilled cardiothoracic surgical team. Puneet’s surgeon worked closely with him, taking the time to explain the treatment plan in detail: an aortic valve repair, where the damaged aorta would be replaced with a synthetic graft, while the root and aortic valve were carefully preserved. This intricate approach offered Puneet the chance to live a healthy, normal life once again. The surgery was a great success, and Puneet is forever grateful to his care team for “giving [him] a new life.” Today, Puneet is back to enjoying life with his young son and wife, working full-time, and even volunteering—living proof of the power of expert care and hope. ??
