In honor of Nurse Practitioner Week, we want to shine a light on Kimberly, Nurse Practitioner at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital’s Orthopedic Center at Memorial Hospital Miramar—a truly special member of our team. Kimberly has been part of our Memorial family since the day she was born here, 50 years ago. For the past 25 years, she’s been bringing comfort and joy to her patients as one of our dedicated nurse practitioners. Kimberly was the very first on our pediatric orthopedics team, helping countless young patients face life’s challenges with courage, especially those on their scoliosis journeys. Reflecting on her work, Kimberly shares, "My passion for working with children is what led me to pursue this career. Children’s resilience is truly inspiring, and I am honored to work alongside them in overcoming health challenges." When she’s not here cheering on our young fighters, she’s at home with her family of five and her two playful French bulldogs, Brandy and Bailys. Kimberly is also co-writing a book with a patient to share her scoliosis journey. Today, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital transformed into South Florida's fluffiest music fest to celebrate two amazing milestones—the 2nd anniversary of our Child Life Zone and Freedom's 7th birthday! This rock n' roll-inspired party brought together therapy pups, patients, and staff for an afternoon filled with dancing, treats, and heartwarming moments that showcased the healing power of animal-assisted therapy. With activities like a tattoo “paw-ler,” karaoke, and pup-friendly snacks, it was a ‘pawsome’ event to remember!???? The newly established Kosher Family Lounge at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital stands as a beacon of comfort and support for the observant Jewish families within our patient community. Recognizing the essential need for a space where families can preserve their kosher dietary requirements, this lounge has become a haven for respite, prayer, and nourishment during their extended stays by their children's side. Generously funded by Ben J. and Dorit Genet, Avi and Debra Naider, Healing Hearts, and the Jewish Federation of Broward County, this beautifully equipped lounge boasts a range of amenities tailored to meet the unique needs of our patients and families. From individually wrapped kosher snacks to refrigerated and frozen meals, a well-stocked coffee station, hot water urn, microwave, and a selection of reading materials and prayer books, every detail has been carefully curated to provide a welcoming and accommodating environment. ?? Additionally, all food in the Kosher Family Lounge adheres strictly to Glatt Kosher and Cholov Yisroel standards, ensuring that families can find solace and sustenance in a space that aligns with their religious practices. Additionally, a new Regional Space is also underway at The Family Birthplace at Memorial Regional Hospital, with the support of Avi and Debra Naider, Healing Hearts, Bikur Cholim of Hollywood, and the Jewish Federation of Broward County.
