Economic mobility for all young adults and their communities.
关于我们
JobsFirstNYC creates and advances solutions that break down barriers and transform the systems supporting young adults and their communities in the pursuit of economic opportunities. The systems designed to improve the livelihoods of young adults are fragmented and slow to respond to today’s rapidly changing economy and increased demand for skilled labor. Transforming these systems requires an unconventional approach based on intentional and inclusive collaboration. Together with our partners we embrace a collaborative 5-step process designed to identify challenges, incubate new solutions, and advance what works. While the economic success of a young adult is determined by numerous factors, we believe solutions should be sourced from diverse perspectives and experience. Our solutions transform systems within following focus areas: Transforming systems requires intentional and inclusive collaboration. As a neutral institution, we bring diverse partnerships together through a collaborative change process. In doing so, we build transformative solutions focused on identifying challenges, incubating solutions, and advancing what works.

We are grateful for the invitation from The City University of New York to JobsFirstNYC's Senior Vice President, Keri Faulhaber, to speak at the CUNY Building Performance Lab (#BPL) Student Project Showcase: Building New York’s Energy Future! ??? It was inspiring to be a part of the conversation with the next generation of innovators discussing the triple bottom line (TBL) #People, #Planet, and #Profit – a powerful framework that highlights the importance of balancing social, environmental, and economic impacts. TBL is a holistic way to measure success beyond financial performance alone as it seeks to gauge a corporation's level of commitment to?#corporate social responsibility (#CSR)?and its impact on the environment over time. Excited to witness such forward-thinking projects shaping a more sustainable future for New York! ???? #Sustainability #TripleBottomLine #FutureOfWork #EnergyInnovation #NYC #workforcedevelopment

JobsFirstNYC's 2022 data brief, Reversing Nearly a Decade of Positive Trends: The Lingering Impact of the Pandemic on Young Adults Who are Out of School and Out of Work in New York City, co-authored with Community Service Society of New York, highlighted a troubling rise in the number of young adults between the ages of 16- to 24-year-old who were out of school and out of work due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic—over 138,000 in NYC alone. ?? However, the tide is turning in a positive direction. ?? The most recent data is pointing to a positive shift: the percentage of young adults in NYC who are out of school and out of work has decreased from 16% to 12%—the lowest rate on record. This mirrors a national trend, where the rate dropped from 12.1% to 10.9%. "According to the latest figures, the number of young adults in New York City categorized as out of school and out of work has decreased from 16% to 12%, the lowest rate observed to date." This positive shift is signaling increased workforce engagement. These improvements are vital, as staying connected to education or employment helps young people build skills, secure better-paying jobs, and achieve long-term economic stability. As Alex Powers, Associate Director at Measure of America, notes, “Connecting young people to education and employment generates significant personal, social, and economic benefits. Our research shows that those who remain engaged earn, on average, $38,400 more annually in their thirties compared to their peers who were disconnected from such opportunities.” Check out our blog by Allyson Bay for a deeper dive into the trends that we are watching. https://lnkd.in/e4HbHVBW. #JobsFirstNYC #NYCYouth #DataInsights #YouthEmployment #EconomicRecovery #Education #WorkforceDevelopment #CommunityServiceSociety #nyc
