Folks on our team have worked diligently to overturn some vile, Raegan era, anti-worker and anti-democratic interpretations of how states and cities can use public spending to tackle joblessness and economic inequity. Now it’s time for states and locals to step up and commit to programs that help Black and brown workers, women, systems impacted workers and BIPOC communities in how we remake our cities and transit systems in the face of the climate crisis.
?? Today, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB)’s updates to the Uniform Grants Guidance officially go into effect. After years of advocacy from the Local Opportunities Coalition, the OMB announced these updates on April 4, 2024, which included many of our recommendations. ???? With local and state governments now able to attach strong worker and community benefits to their federally-funded projects, the revised guidance is poised to uplift workers and local communities by providing access to quality jobs that aid the transition to a green economy and address urgent climate issues.
