Here is our latest post-Hurricane Helene update >> We’re continuing to collect donations for airlift relief for WNC, but as the weather is turning colder the need has shifted from basic needs to WARM jackets, hats, gloves, coats, and CAMPING supplies. Donors are welcome to drop them off at our One McDaniel Greene office in Greenville, SC, or DM us and we will come pick them up from your home or business. MANY thanks to Southeastern Corrugated, who donated 1500 brand-new corrugated boxes last week — it made loading/unloading planes and helicopters a lot easier! We're also sending our best to Alec Cantley with Premier Sotheby's International Realty in Asheville + his family in mind, as they have been staying at JHA-SIR agent Jessica Kilcoyne's AirBnB in GVL since Helene hit. October 3, 2024 Helene Relief Updates from Joan Herlong & Associates Sotheby's International Realty -- Office update: Our Greenville, South Carolina (main office) on McDaniel Greene, right off McDaniel near downtown, was damaged. We are all safe and doing okay. If you do need something at this time, we are virtually open for business. We're still at work, still serving our clients, and for obvious reasons, it's a slow week but we're focused on helping our clients get their homes back in order. From this photo, you can see one end of our office was crunched, and the other end of the office is okay, and ultimately, the show will go on. -- Community update: As Joan Herlong noted yesterday in her video update (see last post), we are fine here in Greenville and the Upstate, and we will be fine. However, our close neighbors right over the border in Western North Carolina urgently need help. The situation is dire, and we are focused on doing what we can to assist them in this desperate time of need. -- How we're helping & how you can help: We have rented a truck to collect much-needed donations for the folks in Western NC. Happening TODAY, October 3, we will be at our Clemson, SC office in Patrick Square most of today until mid-afternoon, and then we’ll deliver a second load to Runway Cafe/Greenville Downtown Airport this evening to be delivered by Happy Helicopters and others flying to deliver supplies. Our focus this week is on the recovery effort from Hurricane Helene. While many of us are still without power, and we have the fallout from the property and tree damage on our homes and offices to navigate, we're grateful to be safe, and that our basic needs are met. However, Helene has left our friends and colleagues in Western North Carolina truly suffering. The flooding in that region has been apocalyptic, and many of the smaller towns and hollers remain cut off from ground transportation and electronic communication. Asheville itself has no power or running water, and only one road in and out of town; I-26. This could go on for weeks. As a company, we're joining in the air-lift relief effort underway at The Runway Cafe. Crisis-relief teams are coordinating donations of critically-needed supplies and then Happy Helicopter Tours - and individual pilots such as our own Reid Hipp - are flying them to otherwise unreachable locations in Asheville and Western NC. JHA-SIR has rented a U-Haul to gather donations and deliver them to the Runway Cafe. Items critically needed: -- Bottled water for drinking and bathing -- Diapers -- Baby wipes The U-Haul will be parked and manned at the Greenville office TODAY 12pm to 2:30pm ET (again TODAY, October 2), and then at our Clemson office in Patrick Square from 3-5:30ishpm, TODAY, October 2). We'll then deliver our donations to the Runway Cafe in Greenville off Laurens Rod. If this effort is effective, we will likely repeat it. We encourage you to donate what you can and share this information with others.
