JLD is glad to be researching and developing independent cost estimates for the TriMet new environmentally friendly zero-emission bus facility on Columbia Boulevard. Sharing of Trimet information https://lnkd.in/dWYAr8RP Located at 4421 NE Columbia Blvd and acquired in 2018, the 31-acre site was formerly a Caterpillar Power Systems dealership facility. The location is ideal for its industrial surroundings, distance from other facilities and ability to reduce trips when buses are out of service and running without passengers. Through a Local Improvement District (LID), new sidewalks will be constructed adjacent to the site, and a new traffic signal and pedestrian crossing will be added on Columbia Blvd at NE 42nd Ave. In addition, NE 46th Ave will be paved with sidewalks, along with a new leg of NE Bryant St connecting NE 46th and 47th avenues. Alternative fuels When the project is complete in 2030, the site will house at least 250 zero-emissions buses. The facility will play a critical role in transitioning TriMet’s entire bus fleet from renewable diesel to zero-emissions. To serve our longest routes, the Columbia site will house fuel cell electric buses. Columbia slough habitat protection A 100-foot buffer zone will be protected along the site frontage on the Columbia Slough to preserve important fish and wildlife habitats.

#JLDCostConsulting researched and developed independent cost estimates #ICE for Portland State University #PSU throughout this project design. It was exciting to estimate with the #3D models and help the CMGC align the GMP with the key project elements. JLD is actively involved during construction.
LEVER is designing a new building for Portland State University's School of Art + Design, located at the terminus of the South Park Blocks. This building unifies the school's three practice areas—Art Practice, Art History, and Graphic Design—under one roof, fostering collaboration and inclusion. It engages the city with art and design galleries on Broadway, a west-facing “work yard” on Park Avenue, and connections to the Native American Student and Community Center along Jackson Street. The design process, guided by Dr. Amara Perez, prioritized student input through a Critical Race Spatial Lens, leading to features such as a secure outdoor space and a student-run gallery. The building targets LEED Gold certification, incorporating sustainable design elements like a planted roof, an all-electric mechanical system, and a mass timber structure with materials sourced from regional Tribal enterprises. The four-story, 100,000 gsf building includes classrooms, studios, galleries, faculty offices, and common areas, with an exposed Douglas fir timber structure throughout. Long-span timber beams provide flexible workspaces, and timber posts in the hallways create pocket galleries inspired by the existing art and design building. Sustainability is central, with the building achieving a 25% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to current energy codes and generating surplus heating capacity for the neighboring Shattuck Hall. The landscape design, featuring a prominent Oregon White Oak, extends the native and climate-adaptive planting palette of the Native American Student and Community Center and celebrates the first Green Loop campus segment.
