????????. ?????????????????? ??????????!!! ????'?? ???????? ???? ?????????? ?????????????????? ??????! A few more tips for mechanical design! It’s time to level up your design skills with a quick lesson on… Gas Pistons! You see them everywhere—in your kitchen, your car, your garage. But are you using them correctly in your designs? ?? If you looked at the images and weren’t sure which setup is right, gas pistons might be trickier than they seem! ?? They’re a micro-system within your design. ?? They don’t just assist movement—they control force, resistance, and stability. ?? To use them effectively, you need to define their role in your system. ?? A Simple Story: I needed a piston to: ? Assist lifting where it's hardest ? Lower the load smoothly ? Keep the door closed when down Ever noticed how your kitchen’s overhead cabinet door resists at first… then suddenly lifts on its own past a certain angle? That’s a well-designed gas piston at work! ?? Let’s start with some gibberish:? ??? DIN 7343 - Spiral Roll Pin? ?? DIN 1481 - Roll Pin ("C" Pin)? ? Never heard of these before? Perfect—time to learn!? ? Your design isn’t finished until it’s manufacturable. Too many teams treat DFM like a final touch. That’s how you end up with parts that are impossible (or too expensive) to make. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Caleb Vainikka, Founder of Cove Design, shares why DFM should be your starting point - not an afterthought.
