Last week, we held our first Overstory Field Day in Spokane with a few of our local customers. ?? No technology replaces the hard-won field knowledge of these crews, so we put boots to the ground to see how Overstory's tech can help scale that expertise for more efficient, more resilient operations. ?? Many thanks to JH Land Consultants, LLC for sharing their wisdom on working with federal agencies and to Amanda Opp for her expertise on using vegetation intelligence for more successful grant applications. And thank you, Inland Power & Light Co., for hosting such a great event. Deeply proud and grateful to work with such a brilliant community of customers and partners. Now overlay your western utility infrastructure layer. It's not just about preventing your lines from causing ignitions, it's also protecting your facilities from impacts of wildfire.
?? Learn About Pyrologix: The Fire Risk Engine Powering Vibrant Planet ?? Understanding where large wildfires are likely to occur is crucial for effective risk management. Burn probability models, like those from Pyrologix, map out the likelihood of wildfires across landscapes, aiding agencies like the USDA Forest Service. ?? Why It Matters:?? Burn probability models help communities, land managers, and policymakers identify high-risk areas and prioritize mitigation efforts. Maps guide preventative measures like home hardening, fuel reduction, and new building codes. This will be an interesting talk presented by Lexi Fotjik and Eric Brown.
Find us at Booth #923 April 9th - 11th at NWPPA EO in Tacoma. Our experts are looking forward to discussing the next steps on how you can start your remote sensing journey! Don't miss Lexi Fojtik's talk Wednesday at 4:00 PM PDT in Room 315/316! She and SMUD's Eric Brown will be discussing Innovations in Wildfire Safety and Risk Mitigation for utilities. This session will explore how remote sensing supports environmental management efforts by enabling monitoring and minimizing utility environmental footprint, analyzing the impact of infrastructure on natural habitats, and assessing vegetation health. Well done. #pollinators #utilities #uvm
Solar energy + native pollinator habitat are a winning combination. The birds, bees, and butterflies suggest so. Do you agree? ?????? #communitysolar #solarenergy #pollinators #habitatrestoration #conservation #cleanenergy Natural Resource Services, Inc

The results of this study are intriguing because we observe similar outcomes with the work we manage.?Native plants repopulating thinned areas that have been exposed to sunlight and moisture is not surprising.?However, the data that was collected for this study showing the relationship between bee species and plants is fascinating.?Management of ROW’s and adjacent stands is just one tool for enhancing biodiversity, and specifically increasing pollinator populations.?We strongly support the efforts made by Vegetation Managers to employ big picture thinking to improve forest health along the utility corridors they manage while also reducing or eliminating the risk of vegetation contacting utility infrastructure. #pollinators #uvm #wildfire mitigation #utilities #environmentalstewardship #ivm https://lnkd.in/g3AR8Vax

At JHLC we support the development and maintenance of linear fuel breaks along utility lines, thinning the adjacent forest and leaving no tree tall enough to strike the utility infrastructure.?Adopting this forward-thinking management requires leadership and bold thinking.?We believe that it’s a proactive approach that improves forest health and reduces management costs and impacts to the watershed, while increasing reliability and significantly reducing the chance for tree related wildfire ignitions.?Additional benefits include fuel reduction from timber removal, reduced entries, and?reduced?workload on Forest Land Managers that have limited staff. Land Managers, such as the USFS have acknowledged the importance of Fuel Breaks along?utility corridors, and?Utility?Vegetation Managers?maintaining ROW's adjacent to public lands have the opportunity to partner and make a positive impact to forest health and realize long-term gains in system reliability. https://lnkd.in/giejYMps ? ? ? ?
