关于我们

The primary mission of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation is to support the work of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum whose core function is to collect, preserve, and make available for research the documents, audiovisual material and memorabilia of President Kennedy, his family, and his contemporaries.? The Foundation, representing a wide variety of constituencies within the general public, works closely with the National Archives and Records Administration to develop programs that advance the study and understanding of President Kennedy’s life and the times in which he lived; and that promote a greater appreciation of America’s political and cultural heritage, the process of governing, and the importance of public service.? In addition to its support of the JFK Presidential Library, the Foundation directly sponsors programs and activities that help people understand the major challenges facing democracy today; that inspire current and future generations to political participation and public service; and that promote debate and discussion of issues at the heart of contemporary democracy that relate to the legacy of President John F. Kennedy.?

"Everywhere immigrants have enriched and strengthened the fabric of American life." -President John F. Kennedy, "A Nation of Immigrants" This week, the JFK Library proudly welcomed nearly 200 new citizens from 47 countries to take their oath of citizenship with their families. The citizens were joined by Julie Kim, President of the U.S. Business Unit of Takeda, who gave a special welcoming address. #NewCitizens #ANationOfImmigrants ????

I am very excited to share our latest story from the GBH News Equity & Justice team -- we uncovered an incredible document: A handwritten recap of a conference on "Low Income Housing Crisis" in Boston ... on Nov. 22, 1963. Does that date sound familiar? The memo is incredibly moving... and tragically relevant still. Hat tip here to the Northeastern University archives, and my incredible collages Magdiela Matta, David Goodman and Jennifer L. Moore who made the fantastic audio happen. https://lnkd.in/esnwhd_U

"As long as men fear or distrust one another because of race, religion or ethnic origins, ...as long as there is unreasoning bigotry instead of understanding and tolerance, our Nation will fall short of its full power and greatness." ?? : Letter from John F. Last night, Boston College history professor Heather Cox Richardson joined GBH Boston Public Radio co-host Margery Eagan and author Eileen McNamara to discuss the 2024 Election. In it, Richardson said the Republican Party has used the same strategy for almost 40 years: “By 1986, there was a landslide of Democrats into House and the Senate, and they recognized to maintain the kind of power they wanted to, they were going to have to continue to divide the American people, to put in voter suppression laws which they began in 1986, to stack the courts which they began in 1986, and to really hammer on the idea that there were good Americans who stood against those people. And those people were Black, Brown, by 1970 under Nixon, they had also become women. And those were people who wanted a hand out from the federal government that were taking tax dollars from hard working White people. That idea that in order to maintain power for a minority of people in the United States, in order to do things like cut regulation, cut taxes, and slash the social safety net, they had to turn Americans against each other was a part of the American playbook and still is.” Watch the full #JFKForum at: https://lnkd.in/e8U-ApUk ?? : Heather Cox Richardson speaks at the JFK Library Forum with Margery Eagan in the background on the Election 2024 results.
