Over 400 women came together for a vibrant and memorable morning featuring admired potter and designer Jonathan Adler with his husband, author and style commentator, Simon Doonan. Together, they heard about Jonathan’s Jewish journey and the heartwarming and humorous stories about his life and the Jewish women who influenced it, as we celebrated the start of the Women’s Philanthropy season. Yesterday’s roundtable on The Israel-Arab Conflict: Origins, Impact, and Paths Forward was a great success! A special thank you to our Master of Ceremony Yulimar Trumbo and Mary Sol Gonzalez, both from the Hispanic Entrepreneur Initiative (HEI Florida) for co-organizing this impactful event with me. I also want to thank my boss, County Commissioner Gregg Weiss, for supporting this event and sharing a few thoughtful words. I deeply appreciate Florida Atlantic University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute for hosting us and for their warm hospitality, and a heartfelt thank you to Camila Mychalczuk, Bethany Alex, and Ryan Britton for their invaluable support. Moderator Brian M. Seymour led an insightful discussion, navigating thousands of years of history in just a few minutes. Dr. Robert Lloyd, from Palm Beach Atlantic University shared reflections from our recent trip to Israel, complemented by a display of trip photos. Josephine Gon from Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County shared her expertise on combating antisemitism and fostering public awareness. Dr. Robert Watson from Lynn University offered historical perspectives, and Dr. Robert Rabil from FAU, examined the conflict’s effects on Middle Eastern societies. The event concluded with a collective reflection on the path forward. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this gathering so meaningful! We are horrified and outraged at the hate-filled antisemitic attacks in Amsterdam, in which anti-Israel mobs terrorized and beat Israelis and Jews trying to enjoy a soccer game. This modern-day pogrom, just two days before the anniversary of Kristalnacht, should make it clear that the entire world must act now to condemn and prosecute to the fullest all the perpetrators and take every necessary step to protect the Jewish community. We are in close contact with our partners in Israel and the Jewish Agency as we continue our commitment to the the security of Jewish communities around the world. Jewish Federations of North America will hold an emergency briefing on this at noon today, open to all: https://lnkd.in/e8Zb3C-a
