Shifting Jewish food practices to build a more sustainable, just, and compassionate food system for all.
关于我们
At the Center For Jewish Food Ethics, we apply Jewish ethical wisdom to address the contemporary problems caused by industrial animal agriculture. We provide Jewish communities with practical strategies to help them transition toward more sustainable food practices. We encourage normalizing plant-based foods as the default meal option. This approach centers the Jewish values of protecting people, animals, and the planet and supports the creation of a healthier, more resilient food system for all. We offer free consultations for Jewish institutions and organizations interested in developing an ethical kosher food policy. Please visit our website or reach out to [email protected] to schedule a food policy consultation.

The value of justice, tzedek, is at the very core of Jewish ethics and is meant to be incorporated into all aspects of life–including our food choices. Much like the concept of justice, food sustains us and allows us to engage meaningfully in the world. Jewish #FoodJustice must start by recognizing where injustices exist in our food and farming systems. By doing so we can work to better align our food practices with Jewish values and bring justice to all--people, animals, and our planet. Great suggestions in this article for small, low-cost strategies communities can implement that make big changes!
?? Encouraging more diners to try #sustainable, #plantbased dishes can be as simple as leveling up your language game: "Adopting a plant-rich diet is considered?healthy and can be budget-friendly. Using language that appeals to consumers, instead of unfamiliar terms that may have negative associations for many people, can help encourage these dietary choices among a broader group of consumers."

A foundational Jewish value is having compassion for animals. This has been a significant moral concern throughout our history. As concerns about animal well-being have shifted in our modern world, what responsibilities do we have to protect animals as individuals and as a community? #AnimalProtection #AnimalWelfare #JewishCommunity #FoodSystem
