Purim is a time of joy, unity, and giving, and our residents at Jewish Home truly embrace the spirit of the holiday! With the wonderful support of the Jewish Home Foundation and the help of our young friends from Derech HaTorah, we prepared 400 “Mishloach Manot” (special Purim gift bags) for residents, filled with treats and good wishes. Happy Purim!

We sincerely appreciate our staff at Jewish Home and this week we extended literal sweet sentiments — via sugary fried cakes from the Schutt's Apple Mill, as its food truck trekked across campus. The complimentary treats included hot and cold cider and deluxe donut flavors like apple pie and strawberry shortcake. Cheers and thanks to our wonderful Jewish Home team!?

Jewish Home is expanding — enhancing our residential community and meeting the need for more housing for our aging population. Michael King, president and CEO, sat down with the 13WHAM ABC/Fox Rochester news anchors to talk about the construction of Lilac Grove, a new four-story building with 90 apartments for those age 62 and over, plus a significant extension to our independent living complex. Last week Jewish Home awarded certificates to 12 East High School students who completed a four-month Aging Services?Career Exploration Internship Program,?and shared with ceremony?attendees what they learned. This is the third year of the program and we're pleased to share that five past participants have joined the Jewish Home staff!?The program is designed to educate about the physical, mental, and psychological aspects of aging, while students also learn about a variety of career opportunities, including nursing, nutrition, and recreational therapy. We applaud the students and thank Christine S. for coordinating the successful program.
