Not only did we identify one awesome team deserving of the #PatientSafeyChallenge prize at Carnegie Mellon University’s Hack-a-Startup Competition, but the overall winner of the event was a patient safety innovation as well. We are pleased to announce a new Memory Cafe in the Pittsburgh, PA region thanks to AgeWell at the JCC! The Memory Café at the JCC is open to all community members who are experiencing cognitive decline & are seeking an accepting social setting. Join the 1st Monday of each month from 1-2:30pm at the JCC Pittsburgh, 5738 Forbes Ave. There is no cost to participate, but interested individuals are asked to register in advance to Hayley Maher at [email protected]. The Memory Café is based on a national model that provides a safe & welcoming space for individuals with dementia & their care partners to connect with others who have similar experiences. The café helps to foster new connections & reduce social isolation. JHF Board President Debra Caplan, COO/Chief Program Officer Nancy Zionts, and friends of the Foundation Brian Schreiber, Stefani Pashman, and Rachael Heisler joined the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition to honor Maggie Feinstein, Director of the 10.27 Healing Partnership, as she received one of its Treasure Awards. A dedicated leader, Maggie has guided the Healing Partnership since its founding after the tragic Tree of Life synagogue shooting, working tirelessly to foster healing and resilience within the community.
