Congratulations to Team Rabbit for their innovation to prevent falls in patients with Parkinson’s disease. Not only did they win the #PatientSafetyChallenge but they took home the Grand Prize at Healthcare Hackathon with AI at Georgetown University. Thanks to Maureen Robbins, Michael McShea, Ralph Johnson, MS, CPHQ, FHIMSS, and Jean Kim for your support as mentors and judges. We can’t wait to see where Team Rabbit takes their innovation! #PatientSafetyTechnologyChallenge
I'm thrilled to announce we just won the Grand Prize and Patient Safety Award at Georgetown University H2AI Hackathon! We built a system that could save lives of people suffering from Parkinson's disease by preventing falls before they happen. Our solution combines VR simulations that help patients navigate tricky scenarios (like narrow doorways where freezing of gait often occurs), with two powerful ML models that track disease progression. The first model analyzes drawing tests using SVMs and logistic regression to classify symptom severity on a scale of 0-4. The second uses a hybrid approach combining traditional ML with deep learning to assess speech impairments. Together with our VR assessments, they create a continuous feedback loop that helps doctors make better medication decisions before mobility declines lead to dangerous falls. Huge thanks to my incredible teammates Udit Verma, Zamir Osmanzai, Yufei Chen and Edward Sun for the sleepless nights and brilliant ideas! Thank you to LucyRx, Georgetown's Office of Technology Commercialization, and Georgetown University McDonough School of Business for this unforgettable opportunity! #H2AIHackathon #HackathonWinners #ParkinsonsTech #FallPrevention #VRforGood
