Congrats to Relayd. who won the #patientsafetytech prize we offered to teams tackling #patientsafety at Carnegie Mellon University’s Hack-a-Startup competition. The app's purpose is to improve miscommunication in patient handoffs while creating more accurate, standardized, and efficient handoffs. They aim to reduce handoff errors and time by 50%. What an amazing goal!

Super excited and grateful to announce that my team, Relayd., took the 2nd place along with winning the coveted Patient Safety Technology Challenge 2024 at Carnegie Mellon University's Accel-sponsored Hack-a-Startup Competition! Over the course of these two weeks, we worked around the clock to turn an idea into an actionable startup. Hack-a-startup is a prestigious competition involving 2 rigourous rounds where budding startups pitch to top founders and investors across industries. ???? Winning the Patient Safety Challenge was an absolute win because that’s the difference I aspire to create as a clinician turned into a product manager cum business professional. I’ve vast amounts of experience working in hospitals and nursing handoffs are the root cause for so many serious issues. At Relayd, we’re dedicated to solving miscommunication challenges without requiring users to change their existing handoff practices. None of this would have been possible without my awesome team members Abiraami Rakshana, Austin Lignell, Sai Charan Emmadi and Neharika. ?? Also, a special shoutout to: Nellie Lignell - For helping us with her nursing expertise throughout this insane journey Arthur Sugden - For being our mentor and our biggest supporter Melissa Murphy - For helping us with her valuable expertise. Nihaal Singh Adarsh - For helping us with so many tips and insights. And a special mention to CMU GEC for sponsoring and hosting this fantastic event! #patientsafetychallenge Check out the article about the competition here: https://lnkd.in/gsW__hnB

Not only did we identify one awesome team deserving of the #PatientSafeyChallenge prize at Carnegie Mellon University’s Hack-a-Startup Competition, but the overall winner of the event was a patient safety innovation as well. Congrats to the winning teams, and thanks to the other two teams that spent their weekend hacking to create meaningful #patientsafetytech! Special thanks to Ari Lightman and Caiden Lukan for your help judging over the past two weekends.?
?? Still buzzing from this weekend's Hack-a-Startup Competition, one of Carnegie Mellon University & the Graduate Entrepreneurship Club's flagship events — brought to life by the dream team: Daniela Decoud Colev, Nisarg Doshi and yours truly! ? Over the course of two action-packed weeks, we brought together 300+ students to "hack" their startups from across CMU — Undergrad, Grad, and PhD students spanning computer science, AI, policy, engineering, business, product management, design, and more! ?? ? ?? The Highlights ? 60+ Ideas pitched ? 30 Teams formed ? 15 MVPs developed ? 300+ Customer discovery interviews conducted ? 10 Industry-led workshops ? 20+ Mentor-startup matches ? ?? 15 teams made it to the finals, and we crowned 3 winners: 1. PlanWise: Enhancing dental treatment plans using AI to reduce malpractice, enhance accuracy, and promote transparency for patients. Max Hsiao, Aimee Langevin, Amine Bouayad, Anshika Agarwal, Jacinto Su?er 2. Relayd: Empowering nurses to focus on direct patient care vs. administrative tasks using AI. Dr. Shubhaa Chawla, Austin Lignell, Neharika 3. Solstis: A no-code AI-powered automation workflow connecting project management softwares. Pratik Satija, Samika Sanghvi ? A huge thanks to our incredible sponsors, Accel, PITTSBURGH REGIONAL HEALTHCARE INITIATIVE, and InnovatePGH, for supporting us with nearly $10k! Also a major shoutout to our workshop leaders, judges, and mentors for their feedback, guidance and encouragement — we could not done this without you! ?? ? We couldn’t be prouder of everyone who participated and absolutely crushed it. It's no wonder CMU ranks among the world’s top schools for producing founders! ???? We’re STOKED to see what’s next for these startups! ? #HackaStartup2024 #Entrepreneurship #CMU #Pittsburgh #Hackathon #Startup #Innovation #AI #Robotics #Healthcare #PatientSafety Carnegie Mellon University - Tepper School of Business Carnegie Mellon University - Integrated Innovation Institute Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship Melissa Murphy, Ellen Ayoob, Craig Markovitz, David Charles Goyette, Adam Paulisick, Max Mirho, Wei Yu, Dave Mawhinney, Alison Alvarez, Allison Braund-Harris, Annafi Wahed, CFA, Ari Lightman, Arthur Sugden, Caiden Lukan, Cigdem Benam, PhD, Lindsay Fairman, Phillip Robertson, William Krut, Zak Slayback, Charles Mansfield III, Ariana Longley, MPH, Peter Clarke
