  • Thank you to Sojourner Family Peace Center in Milwaukee for providing this vital research and an opportunity to reinforce the high impact that providing housing resources in our community makes. This research report and panel discussion were powerful in identifying the key role of housing in this space. As we look to complete a new 56-unit property, JFS looks forward to continuing to provide more affordable and supportive housing to meet that need. www.jfsmilw.org

Last week, in partnership with Network Health WI, Sojourner had the honor of hosting Compassion in Action: Turning Awareness into Advocacy to learn more about the intersection of housing instability and intimate partner violence (IPV). The insights shared on the complex issue of homelessness and IPV was both enlightening and thought-provoking, sparking important conversations on how we can work together to create positive change in our community. At Sojourner, we are hopeful about continuing these crucial conversations and collaborating with those passionate about creating a lasting impact for domestic violence survivors. ? On Friday, 3/21/2025,?Dr. Erin Schubert will be holding an informational session on her report, "Homelessness, Housing Instability, and Intimate Partner Violence". The event is free to attend and open to the public. It will be held at Sojourner Family Peace Center at 7:45 AM. ? Erin’s report can be found on our website: www.familypeacecenter.org ? To learn more about Compassion in Action and the intersectionality of Housing Instability and Intimate Partner Violence, check out this story from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: https://lnkd.in/g2nMiUfp

  • JFS, Inc continues its longstanding tradition and mission of housing people and keeping them supported. We applaud James Mathy and David Crowley for their commitment to reducing homelessness and share their dedication. While we work to complete the new 56-unit Woodale Crossing residence of affordable, supportive senior housing in suburban Milwaukee’s Brown Deer, we share our gratitude for their unwavering support and capacity to provide these resources to people who vitally need them.

    Housing Administrator at Milwaukee County

"More than once in recent years, the county has had the?lowest per-capita homeless population?in the nation. The administration sees affordable housing development as a critical component to addressing eviction, housing instability and homelessness." The first family to move into this brand new development came directly from a winter warming shelter. Not only was their homelessness cycle permanently disrupted, the children are moving into a great school district of their choosing. Similar developments such as this are in various stages of planning and construction so more to come! #affordablehousing https://lnkd.in/gkUF9Vbs

  • On Thursday March 6th, Christopher’s Project brought the soul of New Orleans right to Deerwood Senior Residences with an incredible live jazz performance! This wasn’t just any ordinary entertainment—the smooth, vibrant sounds of jazz filled the air, drawing a fantastic crowd of residents who couldn’t resist the rhythm. The energy was contagious, and the music created a lively, toe-tapping atmosphere that had everyone engaged. It was truly a performance to remember!

Yesterday, with the sun shining, JLA got out of the office and into the field. to view the progress at Woodale Crossing in Brown Deer, WI, a 56-unit affordable supportive housing development. The building is now fully enclosed and contractors are working on drywall, casework, and installing gypcrete (a floor underlayment made of gypsum, concrete, and sand that is lightweight, fire-resistant, and a sound barrier). - with Jewish Family Services & Greenfire Management Services, LLC

  • This Monday, January 27, 2025, is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. This day marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation on of Nazi Germany’s largest concentration and extermination camp – Auschwitz-Birkenau. For many, Auschwitz came to represent the horrors inflicted by the Nazi regime and its systematic effort to annihilate Europe's Jewish population. Decades later, January 27th was established as International Holocaust Remembrance Day – a day when we remember and commemorate the six million Jews who perished, those who survived, and those precious survivors who are still with us. Please join us in remembering this important day, and to share light with those who are suffering. Today, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum offers a live event at 11am CST on their website.
