Jewish Community Mental Health Initiative
心理健康保健
The Jewish Community Mental Health (JCMH) Initiative aims to support the psychological well-being of Jewish individuals.
关于我们
JCMHI, under the umbrella of the American Psychological Foundation, offers free weekly virtual support groups for members of the Jewish community. Recognizing the challenges the Jewish community faces, we provide a safe space to help connect the Jewish community and navigate the complex emotions and challenging experiences of the current climate. With a community of approximately 90 volunteer mental health professionals and clinical graduate students, we currently run 25 free weekly and public groups. We are supported by the UJA Federation of New York and other foundations. In an effort to assure that all those who need support have access to it, we are continually reaching out to various communities to determine their needs and expanding our group offerings accordingly.

Effective communication isn’t just about talking—it’s about listening and connecting with respect. When engaging with your teen: ?? Set ground rules for tough conversations. ?? Ask questions, avoid assumptions, and listen actively. ?? Stay curious and flexible—remember, you’re both learning. Leading with empathy, not judgment, strengthens trust and helps nurture your teen's growth into adulthood.

Is your teen ready for a meaningful conversation? Understanding their emotional state is key! ?? Consider their developmental stage—asserting independence is normal for teens. ? Timing matters! Find a moment when they’re most receptive. ?? Recognize their strengths and show appreciation for what they bring to the table. Building a strong connection starts with recognizing when the time is right for a chat. Patience and understanding go a long way! #JCMHI

Today is a day of profound sorrow and with it may bring a host of complicated and painful emotions as we learn which hostages will not be coming home alive. There are no words that can truly capture the depth of this pain, the heartbreak of families who have been waiting in anguish, or the grief felt across our community. At the same time, we are eager to welcome home the six remaining living hostages scheduled to be released on Saturday. This moment carries an overwhelming mix of emotions—relief for those reunited with loved ones and deep, immeasurable sorrow for those we mourn. The weight of these emotions is immense, and whatever you may be feeling—grief, anger, overwhelm, or something else entirely—you are not alone. These emotions are shared, and so too is the strength we find in one another. In times like these, connection matters. Our free support groups remain open for anyone who needs space to process, grieve, or simply be with others who understand. You are part of our community and you do not have to carry this pain alone.
