We accompany, serve, and #advocate on behalf of #refugees and other forcibly displaced persons.

关于我们

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organization with a mission to accompany, serve, and advocate on behalf of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons, that they may heal, learn, and determine their own future. JRS programs are currently found in 59 countries, serving refugees and other forcibly displaced persons in conflict zones and detention centers, on remote borders and in busy cities. Our JRS teams are made up of people from diverse faith traditions, or of no religious faith, but all united by belief in the dignity of every person and our world as the common home of all. Jesuit Refugee Service/USA is a 501(c)(3) organization based in Washington, DC that provides support – through funding, oversight, monitoring, and evaluation – to JRS projects and programming throughout the world. JRS/USA advocates to defend and protect refugees at home and abroad by representing them to Congress and US Government officials. JRS/USA also organizes supporters to raise awareness and advocate on refugees’ behalf. JRS/USA serves forcibly displaced migrants in the US through our Migrant Accompaniment Network To learn more about employment opportunities, visit: https://www.jrsusa.org/about-us/jobs-volunteering/

This Thanksgiving, let’s bring empathy and understanding to family discussions about immigration and migration. Thoughtful conversations can bridge divides and inspire action. Focus on Humanity and Shared Values Migration is a deeply human experience, driven by the universal need for safety and opportunity. Many of our own family histories include migration, reminding us that compassion and shared values connect us all. Acknowledge the Complexity Immigration is shaped by global challenges like conflict, economic disparity, and climate change. Instead of debating, approach these topics with empathy and a willingness to learn. Share Facts and Data Immigrants and refugees enrich our country through their contributions to the workforce, culture, and local communities: - Immigrants contribute $524.7 billion in taxes annually, funding public services. - They make up 17% of the U.S. workforce and 20% of U.S. entrepreneurs. - Immigration brings cultural diversity, enriching communities and traditions. Highlight Historical Leadership The United States has a long tradition of welcoming immigrants and refugees. From scientists to entrepreneurs, immigrants and their descendants have shaped the fabric of our nation in transformative ways. This Thanksgiving, consider sparking a meaningful conversation about the value of immigration. Learn more at https://ow.ly/MCTU50UfISu. Sources: https://ow.ly/JCLo50UfISt https://ow.ly/K5M150UfISs

Since September 23, 2024, Lebanon has experienced a tragic escalation of violence, displacing over 1.2 million people. The conflict has claimed more than 3,481 lives and injured 14,786 individuals, according to the Ministry of Health. Nearly two months have passed since the violence intensified, and the situation continues to devastate families across the country. In response, JRS Lebanon has been providing critical support through food and non-food baskets to assist families during these difficult times. Between September 23 and November 15, 2024, we have served 13,457 individuals from 3,288 families, delivering essential relief to those in greatest need. We need your support to continue the momentum. Consider donating to our programs in Lebanon during this crisis: https://ow.ly/nMf350Ufi25 JRS MENA #Lebanon #MiddleEastCrisis

This week, our Director of Marketing and Communications, Bridget Cusick, represented us at the Center for Migration Studies Academic & Policy Symposium in Manhattan, moderating a panel featuring thought leaders and changemakers who are all committed to supporting vulnerable communities. Thoughtful dialogue about migration and displacement is vital to support the 120+ million people who are forcibly displaced worldwide.

Brand Marketing & Communications ? Building teams and strategies that drive growth ? Elevating nonprofit & other mission-driven brands ? B2C

On Monday I had the pleasure of attending and moderating a panel at the Center for Migration Studies Academic & Policy Symposium in #Manhattan. The day was full of smart speakers who also are good people, like this panel featuring Steven Choi of the Ellis Island Initiative, Rommel Ojeda of Documented NY, and Edafe Okporo, founder of Refuge America (& candidate for NYC Council in '25!)

?Urgent Action Alert: H.R. 9495 is a bill that has the potential to endanger nonprofits and the work we do by allowing the government to terminate the tax-exempt status of nonprofits by way of the Secretary of Treasury, who would have full and sole authority to designate charities “terrorist-supporting organizations” – with no requirement to share evidence or reasoning with the accused nonprofit or the public at large. After failing to gain the support it needed to move forward last week, it has now passed the Rules committee and will be voted on in the full House TOMORROW (Thursday) morning. Help JRS/USA continue accompanying, serving, and advocating for the world’s 120 million refugees and other forcibly displaced people. Our elected officials need to hear from all of us how these changes would harm vulnerable people and make the world less safe for all of us. Take action now: https://ow.ly/r7hz50UbgT5 #Advocacy #TakeAction #Refugees #Congress
