It may seem like a big mess to an adult, but allowing a 2-year-old to play and make a mess (or interact with their environment the way they wish), and then clean up (or regroup) is invaluable to teaching social skills. I am often asked where did the name JESSRAN come from. My parents, Jessie Louise and Randolph were born in the 1930s in rural Tennessee. They deeply regretted that the life of sharecroppers did not allow them to finish high school - family survival was contingent on all able bodies working the fields. When I decided to start a non-profit that closes gaps for children before the gaps form, it was a no brainer to name the organization after the ones that instilled the importance of education in me. JESSRAN is a thank you to them for dedicating their lives to their children’s appreciation of the opportunities they never had. ??

Colors and shapes are the best way to set an early foundation for math. Sorting gives a geometric understanding, which makes counting relevant to a beginning learner.

Our E2P curriculum teaches children to work towards understanding a problem, and then attempting a solution. If the solution doesn't work, who cares - you are that much closer to an answer that does.
