Family coaching is the centerpiece of the JP experience, providing moms with guidance and support through each stage of economic mobility. A mom and coach may: - Create an education plan, deciding on a school and major - Develop stronger habits for time and money management - Develop a resume, LinkedIn page, and networking pitch - Craft a set of family goals, like afterschool tutoring and summer enrichment

Postsecondary education is the most consistent lever for economic mobility. However, student parents encounter barriers that can hinder their ability to complete their degree. To help single mothers benefit from obtaining postsecondary degrees, it is essential to make educational opportunities and affordable child care more accessible.

Light, love, and liberation. It was the theme of our annual Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Day, where we welcomed keynote speaker Dr. Régine Michelle Jean-Charles, PhD — a Black feminist literary scholar who works at the intersections of race, gender, and justice from a global perspective, heard from College leaders, and celebrated our many award winners.

Moms are often defined by one label: “mom.” When we limit women to their capacity to raise children, we erase their dreams and diminish their endeavors outside the home. This is especially the case with single moms. It’s time to recognize and support single moms’ full potential as leaders, professionals, and more.
