Every year since my youngest was in kindergarten (minus COVID), I host a "back-to-school" hangout for my friends at my house. I won't lie: it is one of my favorite days of the year and makes the back-to-school season something I look forward to. Once my kids are back into the school routine, I take the day to connect with people I've known from all parts of my life: friends from high school, college, former jobs, my kids' preschool days, friends from my old neighborhood, new neighbor friends, my kids' friends' parents, former clients who are also friends. The invite list grows every year. While each new school year brings a mix of emotions, one thing has remained consistent: I love getting together with people to honor our years of friendship, reflect on the past summer, and take a pause in one of the busiest seasons to enjoy each other's company. Taking a day off was just what I needed. I build this into my calendar every year, and it fills my cup in so many ways. What about YOU? What are you doing to take care of yourself during this busy season? Leave a note here, or send me a DM.?
