A PM and a data scientist start meeting regularly. Suddenly, it’s seen as a problem ?? Isn’t that just… collaboration? When team dynamics shift, it’s easy for assumptions to follow, even when the intentions are solid. On this episode of Off the VPN, Jasmine Oliveira and Allison Regna unpack how well-meaning collaboration can spark tension,?and what the says about trust, influence, and the way teams work together ?? Not everything is a red flag. But sometimes… people treat it like one. New episode out now. Link in comments ??

Product & Engineering leaders are in a pickle. The industry has not come up with a great way to measure engineering effectiveness in a way that resonates with business stakeholders. #DORA is a great leap forward. The #SPACE Framework helps to fill in gaps. Neither translate to the GTM or Finance teams. As a CTO told me, "What you don't want is the CFO calling asking you what time tracking system is your favorite?" It's a trick question! In a world where engineering is a black box (which it remains at most orgs), there needs to be a better way to measure progress. Jellyfish team publishes our "Software Engineering Intelligence Maturity Model." Breaking down the complex and non-linear process of software development into clear metrics that resonate with business leaders and align with world class engineering teams. Awesome work led by Ryan Kuchova ?? Whether you are heading to Atlassian TEAM in Anaheim or Google NEXT in Vegas next month, this is required reading because people will be talking about it ... Ever feel like engineering gets treated as a feature factory? Product hands over a list, and engineering is just supposed to build? But in reality, engineering isn’t just about delivery. It’s about shaping the business. Jellyfish Advisor, Adam Ferrari Ferrari breaks down why product strategy isn’t just a “product thing”—it’s a critical engineering unlock. Engineering leaders aren’t just executing on a plan; they’re making decisions that impact everything from team growth to long-term sustainability. And when product and engineering actually collaborate on strategy? That’s when the real magic happens. ?? Adam lays it all out—worth a read. ??
